Difference without a distinction :P Neither one is overpowered, and at EOC you can only gain so much before you've got to do something with all that stam, or watch it overfill.... :P

Empowered relics help the top leveling guilds with recruiting higher level players from other guilds. It does more damage to the game than good - unique personalities and good leaders of small/average guilds get lost in big, impersonal, and overpowered groups. It's like big and overstocked chain stores are winning the battle over the charming, small shops full of their own traditions and unique personalities, because "the faceless shopping centers do discount". As for agreements, the more average guilds will have a chance to capture relics, the better. Tangtop wrote: "the only guilds who use it are the ones who know that their relics are not going to be taken." <-- increase time period for which relics can't be re-captured, should work like RP's buff packages..

Taking a relic isn't the problem. The problem is that the relics ARE overpowering for the guilds that have them.

Witness that they're willing to basically arrange deals and pay to keep relics "safe" from other guilds.

I think they're excellent gold sinks, and could still be. I still think it's possible to link relics to a guild structure with an automatic cost deduction from the guild bank. Either way, empowering HAS introduced more interest in relics, but with GvG and titans and the addition more and more stamina gear they're tilting the playing field some here.

I don't want to get rid of relics. Or even take them back to the older system. Keep the empowering ability, but tweak the bonuses. Get rid of all stam or XP gain from relics.

Pick random top guilds and make them fight? Bounty board filled, gold sunk, PvP gear bought up, levelers made to PvP, and stam burned ouside of leveling! :D

I like the idea of empowering cost being linked to how many members are in a guild.

Besides that, I don't see the problem with them. I agree with leos on several points.

Unless Fallen Sword is going to morph into some sort of socialist entity, there will always be haves and have nots for any number of things. Relics, gear, structures, whatever. What fun would it be if there was nothing to work toward, or protect? Everybody got doled out the same stuff. :?

Sure it 'can' be done but it is really hard.. Despair crystal is the most highly defended relic in the game..

The Relic System is fine it's just that the FS community is expanding rapidly and everyone wants relics. I say just get more relics. :D

No... we/they WANT competition for the relics.

The relics must be valuable.

The stat bonuses alone are well worth the effort of capture and defense.

The costs/gains are what most here are debating. Or trying, anyway.

Tone them down a bit. I'd reduce full empowerment to about 5% (still pretty freakin' nice when you're talking about thousands of points in stats on most players), and remove the stamina/XP stuff that gives the relics the ultimate value which is partly why this whole thread was started.

Im not in favor of releasing too many more then they would, I would just like to see more down lower, where more people could partake in them. The game isnt a giant leveling race for all of us, and the relics at the EoC have the least percentage of people who can partake in the fun and teamwork involved

My philosophy on relic control is, they belong to Hoof, and he gave me permission to take them and play with them, just like he gave permission to you. So take them whenever you feel like it, because I will. :D

And when we hunt, it is no problem for me at all to walk around and take 6 relics, nor is it a problem for mates to continue to collect them as we lose them.

I personally, don't have a problem 1 hitting without the relics, just using buffs and potions that I buy. I get them for my mates. :D

We don't empower them, because we know how easy they are to take, and everyone who knows me, knows I am not a deal maker. I didn't make deals when I was #! in the game, and I haven't made any deals with relic control, not even with our allied guilds. They are aware of it, and even when we take one of their relics, the same message goes out to them. We don't pay attention to how empowered a relic is. We pay attention to how long it has been held (over 1 hour) and the stats it would take to capture it. We do not go out of our way to capture any relics. (i.e. I won't go to the pillars nor to krul, nor to dispair, etc. just to take their relic.) If it happens to be close to my level when I am getting ready to hunt, then, I take it.

And, we do not force relic sitting. So, if you come across one we happen to have, you will more than likely find it undefended, unless that is where one of us ended up. :)

Are they over powered? Perhaps
Should they be nerfed? No
Should they be causing guild wars? NO

The guilds I have seen warring, and complaining the most about losing their empowered relics, are some of the richest guilds in the game and they can afford to empower them, and some of the most powerful guilds in the game. If they are concerned about losing their gold, then perhaps they should not empower them. If they are concerned about losing their power when an empowered one is taken, then perhaps they should depend on the equipment to give them their power, and not hoof's toys.

I have yet to see guild medals being handed out, just individual player medals. Show me a guild medal for being the top guild in the game. Show me a medal for being the richest guild in the game. Show me a medal for being the top PvP guild in the game. Show me a medal for holding a relic the longest amount of time. They are, again, hoof's toys, and he gave them to all guilds to play with. :) Thank you Hoof. :D

And while we are on the subject, What can you do with the medals you do have? Can you take them to the bank and get real money for them? NO So why do you get so upset over a game, that you have to hurt your in-game friend's feelings? It does not make good sense to me.

Bragging rights are one thing, but this has gotten out of hand. Hoof, you need to do something about your toys. The children are not playing nice with your toys, and are not sharing your toys in a nice manner, and are beating each other up over YOUR toys. But then again, isn't this game about PvP?

Exactly .... and hell, the cows do well with big guild wars. Xp locks, gold sunk, powerleveling done, EOC players slowed. :lol:

I remember how angry most people - in fact the vast majority of people - were when all the relics above 400 were simply horrendous. People everywhere asked for some improvement. Not sure why it had to end up being overpowered but frankly it is a great deal livelier and in keeping with the "spirit of the game" this way than it was before.

It'd be nice if it were toned down some but...


Anyone who goes to war over a relic is overreacting - at best - in my view. As I have said many times, I will take any useful relic in my path and sometimes I will go back and take 1-2 to help my guild while we are enjoying a leveling buff pack. I am not biased though; I will take any relic.


I don't pump relics since I expect to lose them in short order but if I ever did pump one, I would view it as gold spent for a specific reason which would soon be lost when the relic is lost in short order.

Oh and making it less expensive to pump relics MIGHT even end up sinking more gold since a lot of guilds would be tempted if the cost were reduced and most of them would not be quite as angry about losing one. I don't know of course, just guessing based on the fact that I'd spend some to pump if it were cheaper.
