in one paragraph you're talking about being in a atk/def suit, and in another you're talking about having no def. you wonder why i'm confused.

my apologies, I meant attack/damage. I misplaced one word throughout the entire thread. Does it make sense now?

if you're using SS as a defender. you would need a LD/FS to kick in anyway. you'd be better off going all out atk/dam with LD/FS, wouldn't you? unless somebody is in a crazy atk\armor suit, SS isn't going to matter. i fail to see any scenario where it would be overpowering.

At my level, a common attack score is in the 7000 (buffed with KE) with a damage score in the 4000 range, especially with several of the 3 and 4 set combinations available. Between sanctuary, terrorize, EF, IS, relics, and EW1500, I can generate at 12000 armor 1800 HP suit.

That 7000 attack / 4000 damage suit, given just a pierce/shield strike, a shatter/shield strike, a critical hit/shield strike, or one of any of a dozen other possible combinations, does well over 4 times the amount of damage it should. That's frankly silly, and the point of the thread.

How about keeping Shield Strike as it is in PvE but in PvP there would be a chance to add one's defense to their damage and reduce one's defense to zero?

I would be interested to know what your worst case scenario math is of the %age that one of these 'combinations of doom' will activate. Given that you are going with all the high end buffs, one would also safely assume you will be using demoralize and take that into account when you do the math.

I'm still not convinced demo operates in PVP, bry.

As for the doom combinations, shatter is a 17.5% chance, and shield strike is also a 17.5% chance. That said, I believe shield strike goes off FAR more often than that.

Again, we all know that a 2% hit on defense in a 50 hit GvG is rare. One of these buff cocktails generally happens by the 20th hit, if not sooner.

Shatter Armor
0 / 150
+0.05% per point chance to reduce opponents armor by 75%.

Shield Strike
150 / 150
0.1% per point chance that your defense stat is reduced to zero and your damage is doubled.

Just saying y'know :P

Still interested in the math.

Tired. Fine, shatter is 8.75%. SS is still 17.5%.

We'll play with the maths tomorrow :)

unless i'm doing some kind of silly probability math wrong:

SS will kick in 17.5% of the time. SA will kick in 8.75% of the time. 17.5%*8.75%=1.53125%. factor in that LD/FS/2% miss has to kick in and take your 1.53125%*54.5% and you get a 0.83453125% chance of losing. to SS + SA

we don't know the % chances for PS or CH, so we can't really calculate them.

yes, there are some flaws in the math. close enough.

knc, I don't have time to run all the numbers with you yet - I'm about to head out to work - but First Strike has about a five percent activation rate; dodge roughly similar.

Hmmm after witnessing first hand the power of almighty SS from being cleared a few times, I tend to think its a damned powerful pvp buff when used for defending or attacking. When having an opponents damaged well covered with armor, sanctuary and terror...only a pierce, crit hit or shatter can essentially kill me ( reflection is another one) Shield strike adds another 17.5% chance for double damage and victory lol. I'm not whining just stating a fact, that it essentially is an armor killing machine lol.

I will say that its a creative way to clear or defeat someone...but ehhh a buff that essentially makes it easy as pie to smack someone in armor, is over powered in my opinion pvp wise.
