I wanted to do something bright and colorful for summertime, this is what i came up with:-

It's a bit of a mixture of resources.

I had to do quite a lot layer mask editing with b/w stroke gradient to help with the blend.

In my opinion, the black vector brushes take away from the tag, you should put some sort over overlay on it; be it a color overlay, a gradient overlay, a clipping mask with an applied image, or something else. I think the topaz and other effects it looks like you used mess up the tag a bit too, look at the border of the focal, all those weird lines and such over the skin should be erased, it just looks odd (and that's why people always point out people applying topaz filters with high settings, it adds those lines which ruin the focal and depth in the tag).

The last thing I wanna say here, is it's too big imo. A tag should never exceed 400px in 1 single dimension, and it's aspect ratio should be between 3:1 and 4:1 in any single direction, giving you a max constraint of: [400x100px -> 400x133px, and the flip resolutions of that].

Anyways, good luck,
Xel.

Did you make the text yourself? If so, I must say that is awesome 3D work :D

I think you are more suited for 3D text pieces rather than using people or renders

Thanks for all the feedback.

The text was dubbed on from another picture that i'd googled, the girl was from a stock originally on a white background.

Trying to get by with little or no topaz at the moment though i still use it sparingly and sometimes with a layer mode set so it doesn't kill the depth too much.

The size of the tag was for a gfx site where those dimensions apply.

The most useful tool in making this was the layer masks, i am really into layer masks for blending at the moment :D

Probably set the Topaz layer to lighten and slightly adjust the opacity?

Awesome work though on the vert!

3D text is awesome! I find it really hard/long to make though, unless you have the right resources/techniques to do it.

I think it was either pin light or soft light or luminosity and yeh i pulled the opacity back a bit.

The text can be pen tooled but I am not that good lol, dubbed it from a pic i googled.

that's what i love about cs5. much easier to make 3D text/objects
