Hard choice.

Will vote for A.

To start off, both have bad text imo. The text in A is too much and the one in B goes partly under render which makes it look off... I also dislike dots under the text in B.

B as a great flow, really nice :) What I dislike about it, is the lighthing over wolverine... It looks weird.

A as awsome dept! I also like the thunder added.

So A is overall my choice :) Nice entries guys, we can guess easily who made what lol :P

TALLY:
A - 1
B - 0

I have to choose B here, A is just to plain.' A' just looks like Wolverine pasted on top of a city stock and text added.

Was just stating my opinion of the piece. All i meant by that statement was that there was very little blending between the layers. Sorry if you took this personally wasn't meant to offend you!

Yeh well I spent a lot of time putting that together and it took a lot of blending so yeh I do take offence.

The only thing I wasn't happy about was the text.

I guess so, by the reactions I have had about it on GFX sites (all very favorable actually).

You are entitled to your opinion but these sort of threads are best with cnc left out imo

There is a difference between giving a reason for who you vote for and giving cnc on the other one.

whoa guys calm down.

I agree with you Susto in not liking ur work being blatantly called a piece of crap. I would not like that, but I agree with rhann in saying that it may look like that u didnt do a lot of work on it. I see some blending in the deep left side, the lightning you created, the depth and the lighting layer but I cannot really see anything else done imo.

Wow, to quote Peter Griffin (from Family Guy for those of you living under a rock or not on your couch), "This really grinds my gears".

First, any person who makes art, should, if they want to one day be a better artist, be receptive to comments and criticism to their art. Nothing, and I mean nothing, is perfect. Far from it.

Second off, when giving critiques, it is common etiquette to not be completely negative, you should point out what you see good in an image first, otherwise the criticism will most likely be taken with a sour taste.

As for the tags posted here:

A has kinda a comic-scene like look, I can see Wolverine as I'd imagine him in a scene of a comic I'm reading on my bed. That said, I think there is far too much text and it takes away from the whole tag, also some of the 'lighting' on top of him looks kinda messy and would better be erased.

B is amazing. The colors and effects reach out to me. The cyan-yellow color harmony is one which is very prevalent in nature, but I hardly see it used in art anymore. Colors, contrast, and flow are all amazing here. The text is not quite the color I'd want it to be though, but that helps it stick out I guess. I'm also not big on the rectangles gradient thingy below the text, but I guess that's part of the style you wanted to go for. Actually, looking at it again, I think I might like the text better if that thing below it was just removed.

Given a choice to pick between both of them, I'd probably pick B, simply because of the strength of the depth/colors/lighting/contrast/flow. The piece just comes alive to me, so to speak.

Xel.

Ps: abogado, when looking at art in an evaluatory process, one must also consider thought spent in ideas and composition. You can have 100 effects/layers and end up with a tag that looks like garbage, or 10 layers max, but a very clear defined tag that displays something truely artistic which can be a deep statement. It is similar to songs: compare "Pretty Soon, I Don't Know What, But Something Is Going To Happen" by Norma Jean (15m:49s) and "In Your Face" by 7 Seconds (1m:07s).

Susto, brush it off and keep it up! Im a fan of your work.... Your style is completely different to mine, but I love it. I have seen your graphics progress sooo much, this is not your best work. But its not bad either. You have done some really great things.

I thought the background stock was picked well to match your render. I like the comic feel to it. I agree the lighting could be a little better in this piece.

The text is hard to read, but Its so your style, and big ups to you being true to yourself and keeping on doing what you like.

I like the lighting effects you added, they work well.

DA your right about being receptive of course, I shoulda just let the comment slide.

Apologys to all, particulary to grunty who put time and effort into [edit]her piece just for this battle.

I was just having a bad day. My bad.

(now hopefully this thread can find it's happy resting place xD)

Peace out :P
