Let's face it, the new pvp ladder is a complete joke as it stands right now...we got tons of point traders and mini power rangers thinking they're suddenly all pvpers because they can hit inactives with gloat on and gain a bunch of rating...these same players that i've never even seen before the reset either on the boards or even as accounts(in the cases of some of them) are all suddenly master pvpers with 2k+pvp in a few days? Let's face it, gloat and honor need to be removed from the game, they were nice to look at but in reality they involve nor assist in any actual pvp skill with setting up a suit or anything else for that matter and simply encourage farmers and multi accounts

In summary, if you need gloat/honor to achieve any type of pvp status either bounty hunting or pvping then you should consider hitting yourself in the head repeatedly.

Gloat doesnt work on inactives, you still only gain 2 rating, even when reckoning improves it. (So long as your so far ahead of them in rating)

Although I agree with you, they shouldve never added buffs to try to determine how good you are at pvp. Because there would likely be an uproar should they remove them as long as it has been, I suggested that the level 1000 buffs include a buff that makes you take more xp from those using gloat or honor

Another solution would be some sort of handicap included with gloat and honor, where you lose stats because of it, therefore deserving the increased rating.

perhaps when gloat activates it also deactivates a random buff on that player? that would be funny

Agreed with snowman, Gloat is a complete joke, generally only used by players that are risking nothing at all in combat.

Interesting... Would kind of make sense, as what do you see on TV when the villain gloats about their plan? They're vulnerable. That's when the hero usually makes their move and turns the tables.

If you're going to have gloat running, LD and force shield should never activate.

Sort of like how conserve and Arterial strike can't coexist.

Also, since Honor is a level 800 buff, the "honor must be present for gloat to be a penalty" should be removed. It's highly unlikely that at this juncture of the game that the average level 300 player being farmed for rating will have honor active in order to penalize a gloat user - Gloat should carry a permanent penalty.

Just get rid of em both. They have no useful purpose in pvp and weren't wanted to begin with.

+1, that would be most preferable. I just don't see it happening.

Yeah, it would be the best solution, but there would be a major outcry against it from those who have already assigned points to it :(

Here is a more worked out version of my suggestion-

Gloat
+0.5% per point increase to the PvP Rating points transferred upon victory. All gains from other skills active are are reduced 0.25% per point. Note if you lose to a player who has the Honor skill active, you will lose and additional 50% PvP Rating.

Now that would be something to gloat about! (43.75% reduction to all other skill gains at level 175 would be crazy)

Honor
+0.2% per point decrease to the PvP Rating points transferred upon defeat.+0.1% per point increase to your experience lost upon defeat

I agree, it annoys me when I get asked for these buffs.

Just, Get, rid.

Free skill point reset fixes all outcries.

Honer

*wonders why you are consistently misspelling this word* A few times, and I would have chalked it up to typos.

High level players are the only ones with general access to gloat and honor.

Higher level players were recently limited regarding rating gain from much lower level players via a sublevel decay.

Gloat, however, cancels that out and in most cases still provides more rating than would have otherwise been gained before the decay was introduced.

Sub 700 players rarely if ever have honor or gloat; of those that do have them, none of their opponents or targets being farmed generally do.

Assuming you are answering Dale, I would think it has little to do with levels.

My problem with it is rating is supposed to mean how good you are. A buff that determines this alone makes little to no sense, but then again, neither has the rating system, ever. They tried fixing it and made it worse.

That's just one of the problems with it king, imo. You highlighted another.

I think we should keep them how they are..maybe some little tweaks but still keep them in the game

If players are using them on inactives or others who aren't going to strike back, we have the ability to use it ourselves and destroy their 'hard' earned rating easily thru a couple of hours.

plus i think if you use gloat on someone who is using gloat, they lose ALOT more pvp rating then with you just using gloat yourself to attack them with. in my experiences when i was attacked back while i had gloat active, i lost as much as if the attacking player had gloat on themselves...so maybe if we use gloat against someone who has gloat, the pvp rating exchange is even furthermore increased?

just get rid of them both...pvpers didnt want it to begin with and you really cant tell me that 75% of the current pvp ladder are even skilled enough to achieve 2k pvp period without those 2 buffs

another thing i'd like to see since apparantly farming is being exploited is that you can only gain rating from someone offline once per day or some system to be worked out like that

and thereby still promoting the broken system that has level 200's with over 3k pvp in less than a week? its broken and needs fixing, lets face it...or gloat and honor need to be reworked into some miniscule amount and not the overpowered amount it is now

Gloat and honor really have no bearing on inactive farming,at least not past the first day or so. Im not proud, but I can tell you with first hand experience, if your over 500 rating from your "target", you cannot gain more then 2 points, even if reckoning improves gloat.

Trading on the other hand. . . . . .
