The pointy bits are uncomfortable to walk on! :)

Can we rename it Fail of the Colossus instead of Flail?

It may be unrealistic, but how about this

you get a choice of recipes you can buy

mace + item 1 = armor/damage flail
mace + item 2 = defense/attack flail

ect, ect

if you have 5-6 variations, you amazingly increase the demand for a flail, because players can almost customize if for their personal needs

would completely reinvigorate the market for colossus

Each incarnation could be obtained via recipe. These recipes are sold in a store as a gold sink. Each flail of any of the types can be "transmuted" via each of the recipes as many times as you want. Resources for the recipes could be scattered in the arena, PvP Tokens, farmed off of creatures, and scavenging. Different components for each. Each component makes a different incarnation of the flail. If you want a PvP flail you need to participate in PvP and earn tokens. If you want a leveling flail you need to farm the right creatures, or scavenge.

All the items have the exact same stat total, just allocated differently.

No matter what you do, people are going to have complaints.

With this solution no one has any right to complain since they can make the item what they want. You have added a gold sink with recipes worth over a million gold each. You have added a second gold sink by encouraging scavenging to get those components, a third gold sink by encouraging activity in the arena, and a fourth gold sink by encouraging PvP activity.

It is an all around winning situation.

Every other idea I have seen has been a quick fix to the problem of the mace.

You have the potential to make it a truly epic weapon without increasing its stats. It also benefits the health of the game in many many different ways. Please rethink it. Take some time and think of all the good things that would be brought about by *really* changing this item and making it something that everyone will want to work towards. At the same time you pump some more blood into every aspect of the game, sink billions upon billions of gold pieces and make your playerbase largely happy.

What is bad about this idea other than the fact that it takes a little more work?

Recipe of Blue Infernal Boots

Ingredients:
1- Mace of colossus
1- Blue man of war sword
4- inferno hammer

Result:
Blue infernal boots

High attk/dmg boots
+100 stam
+3 stam gain
+2 xp gain

Yes, it would cost a lot, but it sure is worth it!

Worth it if you have enough Inferno hammers in the AH to equip a whole guild?

There's over 2k of them in the game....

I think there's enough....

with volkers and acherons theres never a need to even consider attack while hunting .... assuming it will be less damage than the elemental blade it should really be def or armor. Preferable armor - maybe with +60 hp (before forges) - make it useful for pvp. Although ideally I think almost everyone would like to see it used in a recipe that makes another epic like boots.

and what about those who don't have the funds to buy acherons or volkers. Not everyone is built on pantloads of pills. The mace is a great option for those who don't have the funds yet can put in time towards a mace. Boo, the game is not all about you and how much profit you can make ya know.

and for it to be useful in pvp, come on this is something you don't have a clue with ;) It's already widely used in it's current state in PvP/GvG, in fact that's where it is mostly used. I'd suggest you understand pvp gear, sets and requirements before suggesting +60 HP :P That's only going to make it useful for a couple of people in the arena, and come on, there's enough people tanking armor and not enough stats elsewhere in the arena ;)

Actually, that is not as uncommon as you think.... but I suppose it's easier to call someone a smartass and pout, huh?

I can think of a few both at that level and in a guild that doesn't have uber expensive gear. :P

Come up with something constructive rather than a petty snub and you may get some, what's it called... oh yeah, respect.

The game shouldn't be about gear that costs 3-4 figure amounts of FSP. It's about having options. Because something is not useful or valuable to you, doesn't mean it's not to someone else ;)

name one.

And as a reminder this is an epic item. Not something cheap that is a substitute for "the poor level 700+s in this game"

are you kidding. All I did was make an observation about how other gear makes an attack epic not useful and your response is saying that "I dont think of anyone but myself in the game". Then you say that I make petty snub comments? You are ridiculously short sighted. Anyway Im done viewing this thread to avoid further flaming from people like you.

not to make light of the bickering, but I lol at this for some reason...must be tired...

anyway, just had an idea, maybe it's stupid, maybe not, but if I don't write it down now, I'll forget it...

what if you (HCS) created a Blacksmith's shop somewhere in the realms, where you could take your Colossal Fa...Flail, and pay/choose to change it's stats. Either have preset options, like a 'PVP' with high attack, or have the ability to allocate the points as you wish, with certain limitations, i.e. no more than 1500 damage or 100 hp or whatever. People could then make their own decision, and the ones that want to keep the Mace as is, can do so. And those that choose to alter their weapon, can only do so once - maybe the smithy only appears once, after you've done it, it disappears a la quests.

I have no idea if this is do-able, nor have I thought it out....but I'm throwing it out there anyway, please be gentle ;)

I could see that being very, very useful, not only for the Phlale, but also for future items/quests. I'm sure HCS could think up some interesting things to have us do.

I had an idea similar to this, it's disappeared down the pages though, a bump would help.

I stopped reading after seeing the ideas that I liked best:

1. A companion item (boots?) to make the first epic set.
2. Converting the flace (flail/mace) into another item type (again, boots?).
3. Using negative stats to increase two others.

4. Peyrhon's blacksmith thingy.

Each incarnation could be obtained via recipe.

.....

Were not wanting to go into 5 different versions of one item, maby some time in the future for some specific reason or quest we could do something like that

clearly its a great idea, but i guess not what they have in mind for now

lol after months of telling us this wont happen, I wont take them at their word and merely asked them to reconsider.

The capacity for this change to reinvigorate multiple markets, sink gold, and make the 99% of the playerbase happy is something they seriously need to consider. I can see many many more people going after colossus if this happened, which is the point of the entire ordeal.
