I'm kinda new, and I don't know how to put a render/stock on top of another layer without justjust starting a new image altogether. I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me how and pop in a few tips too. :D Thanks! ( I use GIMP)

Well.
There is 2 ways. (I'm a photoshop user, this may not work for GIMP)
If you're getting a stock directly from the internet, just copy and paste it in.

If you have it saved on your computer.
Open it, then drag it into your other canvas.

I'm pretty sure there is an easier way like "Import image" or something, but I can't recall.

I think you need to open as layer instead of just opening it.

Right+click and copy the render/stock.

Paste it (ctrl+v) into the canvas.

Under 'layers' click 'create new layer'

That's how I do it.

I think when you paste a render (PNG's) they come up with a black background? :S

Why would it come up with a black bg? It's never given me that.

As long as you make the new layer first then paste it in that should work fine.

Of course you will need to resize it in most cases.

Youtube is a useful resource for gimp tuts.

Type in query as 'gimp sig tutorial' or 'making sigs in gimp' or similar.
