With the posts from earlier about wishing that people could start over or switch classes after 4th tier, I got to thinking that maybe I could try to write something that could be a viable, one-time option for those people that really do regret choosing a character class that they did. If this quest gets good reviews, I'll write up the rest of the set for this. I started with Celestials because, (in my opinion) they're the best and everyone should want to be holy.

-----------

Quest: Reaching for Heaven
Objective: Change from previous class to Celestial
Quest Level Restriction: 3000

Quest Start Location: Clouds of Vevalian

In the center of a grand hall, a bright and shining figure stands and watches as you approach. The air around is light and divine in some unexplainable way. The closer you get to the figure, the more that you want to know.

- Talk -

My child, I can see that you are here to repent. I shall help you, but only if you truly wish for this to happen. Understand that once you accept my offer, it cannot be changed ever again.

- Yes, I am ready. -

Good. Now that you have decided to enlighten yourself, you are to be put on a series of grand adventures to lighten your soul, reverse your karma and truly understand the ways of the light. First, head to the failing village in Zenix. There you will find a sanctuary that has been defiled by war and death. Find the sanctuary and heal its wounds.

Location: Zenix Homeworld

After searching the village, you happen across a sanctuary whose doors have been destroyed. Inside, the body of a fallen priest is laid purposefully in the center of the main hall.

-Examine the body-

Upon examination, the body shows signs of a struggle, and something that resembles scorching. The burn marks on his chest, his clothing shredded, shows an outline of a peculiar shaped necklace. Something compels you to look for more answers.

-Examine the hall-

A woman sits in the corner, huddled and weeping.

-Talk to the woman-

Th… they came so fast! They killed the priest and stole his necklace and staff… we’ll all be doomed to darkness if they cannot be retrieved.
-Continue-

While listening to the woman, the sounds of battle can be heard in the distance. The woman’s eyes widen and she points toward the door at the other end of the hall.

-Listen to the woman again-

The village guards can only hold them back so long. If you can retrieve the stolen items and give them to the priest’s nephew, he can take his Uncle’s place and rid the village of these monsters forever with the help from the divine. Please help us!

-Accept the quest-

Go, quickly! The monsters are coming! Kill as many as you can and come back to find the priest’s nephew. If we could just get them to leave us be, the priest’s nephew can step up and take his place.

-You’ve killed 50/50 Evil Beings- (You can create the character… I don’t much do that stuff.)

Thank you for giving us the chance to have our new Priest ordained. He’s told us that the necklace and staff that are missing were taken by large creatures, far larger than whatever those things were that have caused so much terror to our village. They were something right out of a nightmare. If you can track down the creatures, you can get the stolen items and bless us with them once more.

(Quest Items: Priest Necklace, Priest Staff – Both drops from the same creature. Again, you can make those creatures.)

-Give necklace and staff to Priest-

Bless you, my child. You have truly helped this village in ways that no other ever could. Please take this as a token of our esteem.

-Received Note of Merit, XP (of your choosing) and Platinum (needed for later in quest)-

Quest Location: Clouds of Vevalian, same as quest start

Having returned from Zenix to the grand hall, you give the note to the ethereal being. He takes the note and reads it, then nods and smiles as he returns it to you. As he speaks, you already have the feeling that you are not quite done with his testing.

“Very good. Now that you’ve shown us your ability to protect the weak, you must now show us that you have the clarity of mind that is needed to be a Celestial being. Go to the Library and retrieve a book. You’ll know it when it beckons you. Be warned, the Celestial Library does not always stay in one place…â€

that was alot of thought and i like it... granted i am staying a blue light bulb but still i like it.. only issue i saw... (sowwies hun) was that you need the Vevalian key to get in to the clouds of vevalian and well we all will have lost that by 4th tier so maybe a different location or a new realm thats like 3x3 one for each class.... that will too require a "new" class specific key

Yeah, I thought about that too, then figured that the cows could come up with an alternative.

This is a great idea especially if expanded to the other races

Agreed. If every class has the option of transforming, it would be an A-1 idea. Great quest details, by the way. Good read even if you're not going to do the quest. :)

"In the end, you will always kneel."

"Last time I trusted someone, I lost an eye."

Yeah, I'll get around to doing the other quests, I was honestly just sitting down to figure out some of the details. I think I have some ideas, so this should get interesting.

All that came to my mind, as I was first reading this, was WOW. For someone who loves to read and write, reading that, honestly, was one of the best written quests I've seen, including ones that the cows have created... sorry cows. As I told you on yahoo, my writing strengths are with stories, which while a quest is just that, I don't know that I'd be able to put something together that gracefully like you did, even with having also helped create D&D quests with friends. I really hope this quest, and the others you're working on for the other classes, are looked at by the cows and implemented because I truly think this is a wonderful idea and people who have wished for a very long time to be able to reverse their character class would enjoy following a quest such as this.

Just my $0.02 here. Sorry for being long winded.

Missed these the first time round... like the idea... have a suggestion...

I personally would prefer something that doesn't bring you straight to fourth tier in the new class... but also shouldn't drop you back to human as such cos it could frustrate the high levelling humans.

Say it changed you to a human-like class... same features and allowed you access to duplicate quests for all the quests to get you back to fourth tier in anything really.

*thinks as types* might turn out to be quite a lot of work to implement.

Perhaps simply brings you to be third tier in the new class and resets the fourth tier quests... yeah that simple enough.

Should be some more work to validate/prove yourself in the new class... not sure of any class changing consequences though.
