Perhaps excess data is the wrong terminology. Extra workload, tracking 1k kills for a titan hunt is not the same as tracking 100k failed clicks for the same creature..

i agree

Btw, a possible fix to the R/E kill and an alternative to the DURL is each time the titan moves loc on map, the url changes. This means that people can multi click, but auto reload is rendered useless.

Yeah, but that sounds like a similar or higher workload than keeping a "flail" counter, although it is a better solution. Oh, wait: what about when the Titan "moves" to the same square? That's happened to me every hunt at least once.

It would be a simple random generation of the link upon respawn. No data storage or extrapolation.
As for it moving to the same square, it would still be a respawn, it would still generate a new link. I'm not sure why that would be important though? Simply trying to pick fault?

No, but they way I hunt, I can keep hitting the Titan after a same-square re-spawn without having to refresh the world screen. This would cause me to have to refresh.

Yes it would. The simple answer is to push the repair key. You use the repair key if I remember rightly, you stated so on the LW thread. So this is still a non-issue.

Simple eh, just imagine how many times the attack button is clicked without getting a kill compared to how many kills there are.. Doing this is going to mean the DB is storing a massive amount of excess data..

well, yes... if they started to track it today it would be alot of data. If they (in big red letters) informed players that auto-reload to kill the titan will be illegal on december the 1st and started tracking that on december the 1st it wouldn't be a massive amount of data to track... (since players hopefully would stop doing it if they want to play the game)....

but to say that auto-reload is illegal and have to keep track of it and ban players would mean alot of work for the cows, so if the cows think auto-reload to kill the titan is a problem and want it to be gone - the good solution would be to implement code that makes auto-reload impossible

and the simple fact is that it would take a good coder less than a day to write that code [unless the entire code is a big mess] - and since they do nothing about it leads me to the conclusion that they think auto-reload is ok.

Not feeding into the whole conspiracy thing, but do think something seems a little odd about the fawkes spawn rate. Seems too few and far between to be genuinely random as we are led to believe.

I have no clue about titan hunting but the amount of cheating/exploiting/multiaccounting in the pvp-ladder-side of the game is enormous at the moment. And yes here there should be mechanisms where devs monitor actively, not wait for peeps to send tickets ( could send 10-100 per day on new multis that come for the ratings)

As doom said, it's pretty impossible for HCS to determine who is cheating and who isn't. Do you really want people to be banned based on presumptions? "Oooh your too fast, ban". Hence auto-reload methods aren't banned.

The best solution is to have a system that inherently prevents most methods of cheating. As has been suggested in previous PvP threads and this one, having a new URL for every respawn is the best solution.

eh... it's spawned twice in a row and then it's not spawned for a day or two. Considering it's in a rotation with the other titans and maybe the elemental titans as well, it's not surprising. Two weeks -is- sort of a short time for them to come out, but I guess it's something different.

I just can't wait for the 19th to be done... been sitting here waiting forever for another round with wicker or a time when I can rest easy. ..... :( *sobs*

it may throw out a random roll on whether multiple titans spawn on that hour or not as well. lol

or they may be completely seperate with fairly low chances. Either way, it seems random from my observations.

Also, cows... if there's an Xmas titan, I'm going to end up hurting someone.

but, seriously, if you use auto-reload to kill the titan you will have alot of "creature not found" between every real kill... a guess is that you would have at least 90% (or even more) auto-reloading the kill link when the titan isn't in your square so it would be VERY easy to detect the use of auto-kill if HCS wanted to (or as pointed out earlier, to implement a dynamic kill url and that way completly stop the use of auto-reloading the kill link)......

but they [HCS] accept the use of auto-kill and they show no sign of wanting to get rid of it

i normaly don't hunt titans, but i just did the level 500 epic quest... and yes, i can agree with what some regular titan hunters say in the forum - auto-reload makes the titan hunting experience a much better experience :)

one minor thing to think about, if alot of players are having 0 seconds auto-reload on the map and the kill link it could very well contribute to some lag... (in a sense it's a little bit like using a bot-net to do a ddos attack on a site :)) and from what i hear it's quite common with some extra lag when a popular titan is out...

and even if they [HCS] remove or ban the use of auto-reload on the kill link, people will still auto-reload the map (and i haven't heard anyone wanting to ban that)...

so to sum it up: suck it up and accept it :) auto-reload is the way to go if you hunt titans, both for the map and for the kill-link - and that's the way it's going to be

A Christmas Titan would be AWESOME! Even though I'd NEVER hunt it, 'cause it would be mobbed by the first-tier Titan hunting guilds, it would distract those guilds from the other Titans. :)

But what would it be? Maybe an Ent that went mad someone decorated them as an Xmas tree and they caught fire? "Treebeard the Inflamed." Maybe an enchanted snowman that went mad from the mercury in the hatband of his magic hat, grew to enourmous size by rolling down a mountain, and seeks revenge! "Frosty the Savage Snowman." LOL, the mind boggles at the possibilities.

Stop it stop it stop it! .... just not where I can hunt it and get competitive, at least. My body will be recovering from being on Fawk-watch.

Although, I suppose this is a good time to really throw me into the titan game. lol been tweaking settings and whatnot this whole time.

..... and yeah, been noticing people capitalizing on the top titan guilds' negligence towards the other titans.

But then again, I prefer the high paced competition of Fawked. Even if I have to hunt alone. :)

i've been posting ways of doing DURL's to stop the cheating but this is the simplest and most effective one i've seen.

hopefully they will consider it

players may not consider it but all the extra auto reloads slows down the servers and there for is a direct cause of lag (STOP THE CHEATING REDUCE THE LAG)
