I like the idea, though I think the colors a little to out there. Try a few gradiant maps, and then I might buy it from you if its for sale. XD

Maybe tone down the c4d? And also get rid of the light behind his shoulders, it's killing my eyes.

Try Colorizing the c4d to match the item it helps

some c4d tips...

1. Try not resizing it to fit the render and just using bits and pieces of the oversized c4d.
2. Try distorting the c4d to be less of a straight line effects (wave or ripple effects work pretty good)
3. If you're having trouble matching colors try stripping the colors out (its ctr+shift+u in PS i think)
4. Erase parts of the C4d to make it more match with render and overall piece.
5. don't be afraid to lower the opacity if need be.

Agreed, use ripple it makes the c4ds less sharp and usually has a nice wavey effect, overall you're using them pretty well
