It wouldn't realistic to stay under PvP Protection all the time due to the FSP cost.

The costs are:

10 FSP = 24 hours
60 FSP = 7 days
200 FSP = 28 days

These prices are ridiculous, for anyone concerned about XP loss. At those prices, you may as well buy XP lock.

So you're basically making PVP for XP far more attractive/possible, while providing no protection to those who don't want to engage in it.

Hoof, what would be better for all is.. Simply make it take them out of the ladder and protect them from Xp loss. Then you can make the prices more bearable to those who would use it. I'm sure at least some from the other side would agree with me?

I guess it's all about perspective. I feel like the prices are too low.

I agree. people who depo a lot of gold are going to be taking advantage of this... this will keep them from being attacked when they have millions. you take into account a guild banker on a large guild, where fsp are easy to come by, and that cost is minimal. if there is any attempt to make this fair, I think the prices should be higher especially at longer durations, with a HUGE cool off period.

I'm not into PvP but I have dabbled in the past. While I appreciate my gold and want to keep it, I feel at the very least the opt out should allow gold to be taken. I would suggest however that the player who opted out be required to have on hand at least a specified amount of gold before it is possible. Either there should be a set amount, or a base amount with a multiplier based on the person's level since the amount of gold tends to be higher the higher your level.

Opt-out concerning XP-loss, if expensive, should be ok, to protect levelers, but should never protect from gold-hits, that would just be ridiculous.

+1

I'm not keen on the 'opt out' update completely but I guess the game has to cater for both PvP'er and Levelers alike.. out and out levelers take there XP seriously OoO so if that is the case then they can now Buy 'protection' that is there choice.. but.. I feel that should be the tops of the protection, XP loss.. Gold hits should still stand.. We always need them Gold Sinks!!!!

I like the increase in being able to hit a wider range of players... gives more targets for those of us at the higher levels that have a limited amount of targets compared to the lower levels... this will help keep PvP alive at the upper end of the scale more so

Grimnok ( leader of FFS and knowledgable , balanced person ) puts it very well:

The fact that you've irritated pvpers by including an opt-out, and non-pvpers by DRAMATICALLY increasing the range to which you're vulnerable to pvp, is... astounding.

Gloat still serves no purpose whatsoever.

ANd there was always opt out with xp-lock+deflect. HOnestBOb has good suggestion.

Will have to see how many peeps actually buy the opt-out before evaluating this.

But if old-school-pvpers leave the game its a loss to everyone. Game needs hardcore pvp-ers. Its a game for crying out load. XP is just a digit on a screen.

Gold hits should be there , always. 99% of the time its the precious xp that levelers cry about even when 10 -stammed :(

The price is probably fair, when considering gold loss, for those who do large scale banking. Most don't, so it's useless for the vast majority of non-pvpers.

Why are arena wins under the PvP section? I get that it is a PvP arena but it has nothing to do with PvP itself

I can also see a group of players using the upgrade able to manipulate the fsp market price with impunity.

edit> and get rid of gloat and honor completely please.

I know several players who have quit below level 100 because they was attacked all the time for gold. This update will help, and they cost of those are fine.

The PvP Ladder has now ben reset and you have been allocated to the 50 - 99 PvP Band.

I think Im supposed to be in the 100-199 one

another bug, I just hit someone outside my +/-10 range and took a good chunk of xp

No one can deny that we changed this game and influenced it in such a way that NO ONE could compete with us.. so much so that they changed the rules. ~Abhorrence, chosen founder of Cerulean Sins

I kinda wonder if this update is there for making pure lvlers spend FSP on the
opt out upgrade. Only thing pure lvlers care about is their XP, and now there
is a band of 100lvls, and the higher you get, the more people can take your
shiny XP (less people you can take XP from, but which pure lvler is even doing
that?)

I wouldn't have a problem with the 100 lvl bands, if it was only related to gold
and rating hits. I don't care about my rating. And knowing there are 100lvls of
people able to hit me, just will make me more careful with my gold. As far as I
know PvPers care about the gold and/or rating, and not about XP loss for the
defender. I think it would have been better if the XP loss was still only for a
5 lvl range (or make it 10), and it should been changed to both directions. So
someone below my lvl is decreasing my XP, I should be able doing the same
with that person.

If XP loss was still restricted to 5-10 lvls, the opt-out wasn't even needed to
introduce. Now it is there, I think opt-out should be XP-related, not for
everything.

Imagine if opt out was purchased with loyalty tokens. That would be amusing ;)

Another suggestion - make it that folks who are in PvP protection can't receive gold (can still send their gold out if they need), so guild's can't designate a "guild banker" who is always under guild protection (for guilds who could afford to use the guild bank to buy 28 day protection each month).

The way around this would be 1 hour auctions that members can bid their large amounts of gold on so the player gets it when they end.

You can hit for xp upwards, unlimited, up to the top of your range, which is what makes this terrible.
