That works too - an HCS summary of both sides is a good compromise - as long as it DOES cover both sides of the argument and isn't slanted one way or another (not that I'm saying it would be ..)


Yea it definitely would have to cover both sides, and even if it is semi-slanted, it's not as big of a deal as long as it's a good summary of both sides.

A quick outline of the points made by both sides on this could not only turn tides in a vote, but also in this vote. The poll up right now could potentially change a lot of aspects of the game.

You can only vote once.

There was an issue with it initially, then we reset it, hence some players had to re-vote.

Potentially a massive impact on the game and we get a YES/NO decision to make - read the previous threads for other suggestions, and rewarding people with reserve stam means that LOTS of people who dont actually care will just vote for anything, making the poll redundant.

The aim of the in-game poll is to gauge an opinion from all players (not just players who use the forum). We'll have a discussion on the forum about it before making any changes though :)

Great idea putting the poll on the game and giving a 25 reserve stamina bonus to get everyone's opinion. I'm wondering though, if someone might clear their cookies and vote twice or more to build up lots of reserve stamina ? Did yall put a fix in for that?

So am i getting this straight after the poll your still going to go with what peeps say in the forum ie "have a discussion"? whats the point of the in game poll then ?

why not make a locked thread with a detailed view of what is suggested to be implemented and let us vote on that, make it so you only get your 25 stam if you view the locked thread first and then vote ?

A lot of the people here on FS know I am not a fan of how PvP is currently implemented so my voice SHOULD be small on this issue.

As I understand PvP here, I think the idea of the bands is a good one. Many people have complained about multiple characters (MC) are being created so a player could attack them just for rating. Also people have complained about the fact that at lower levels there are many more targets for PvP so it is extremely hard for higher level players to get a rank with PvP.

I seems this would help with both problems. I do not think the people with MC will be willing to push their characters up to levels 200 or 300. So there is no risk that high. Also by placing the bands as they are now being placed it levels the playing field. I really doubt ROC players are into PvP, but with this option it makes it reasonable for them to attempt it should they try.

Oh and I still applaud HCS for the last couple of updates. The reducing of the xp lost when PvP attacked makes the attacks so much more bearable.

And Cloak is what I have been arguing for PvP because it changes PvP from being a snipe to being a hunt with risk. Now if it were just the default condition.

HCS is a business, like any business it must satisfy customer needs and desires or it will not have the customers. The polls give general feelings of the customers at large. The forum gives specific feedback, ideas, and complaints about new updates or proposed updates. That is just as critical.

FS at least is definitely not a bleeding edge game, there are no 3D graphics, battles are not in real time, creatures do not attack you unless you attack them first, and the list goes on.

What HCS does well, and I believe it is the primary reason for not allowing multiple characters (MC) is it forces the game to be social. To be honest I would have quit LONG ago except for my friends here. And yes, some are even PvP players, some that have even attacked multiple times, I consider friends. I do not know of any of the wiz-bang games that do social playing as well as FS. (No, I have not tried any other HCS games, I live on a fixed pension and cannot afford another game that costs like this one has.)

Maybe forcing to read the update description is wise, and MC are are problem. Players with MC could alter the results of the vote but you are assuming not only would the player vote their MC one way, but that all the people with MC would vote the same way. In truth they will probably be a wash unless the vote comes down to a few hundred. As to requiring reading, a MC player would still be able to vote their MC as a block, the player goes to the forum reads once, decides how they vote, votes, then has each additional character vote the same way. No difference from MC voting this time except they have to do one additional step, click on the forum subject.

The only way to control MC voting would be to require reading and then random selection of words through the text like "What is the word that follows 'If the target players level is '" with at least 10 or 15 randomly selected questions you could not have any control on the multies. I do not think anyone would bother voting then.

As to paying 25 reserve stamina for a vote, if they desire. It is one extra battle for me.

Yes nice points there, first the way hoof said it made it look like "we are putting a poll out in game, but will decide what to do with what peeps say in the forums, why not just let it stand to what the peeps say in game ?

But down side to this is yes MC, so why not make it like peeps have suggested "players thats been in the game for a week or more be able to cast a vote" ? solves that little problem dont it :wink:

well just my 2p's worth but i personally will be voting NO in the poll, why? because if im going to spend 10, 60 or 200 of my fsp for PvP protection, then i want a little more than just exp protection for my money other wise what is the point in even having the option,

from a business poiunt of view, in this case HCS, taking away all but one benefit of this option is pretty much shooting yourself in the foot in my eyes, because no-one will buy it just to protect exp, especially at those prices, i know i wont be, Now if i was fully protected, then i would be temted to buy it, especially if i was scavanging, juggling lots of gold etc etc but for exp pffffft, youve just wasted your time adding those options to the upgrades page

I say no if you are going to pay that much for PvP Protection it should include protecting gold also
