PvP Changes
For normal (ie. not bounties) PvP attacks, gold will now only be stolen if the target player is within 10 levels of the attacker.

I'm seeing all the same arguments and complaints that come with every attempt to 'fix' pvp. (From both sides of the debate too)
Perhaps it's time to get together a working committee of devs and players (pvp, bounty hunting and leveling) to thrash out a solution once and for all.
As far as I was concerned there was never a need to 'fix' pvp, people had issues with the ladder.
Tokens coming into being have been and are still the problem.

And its "chicken mode" : deflect and cloak. nobody my range dared to clear me or get cleared by me for 3 resets, they all whined and chickened out.
Its not PVP as in skill or dominance. Its just a tokens farse. Too bad the dominance medal is involved.
and yes total bug that you dont lose gold on the board.
and yes wrong to give nothing for 4 and 5 spot.

And every change since has just brought up the same problems - just to and fro with the arguments and I'm sure far too many conflicting ideas for the devs to get a handle on as they rarely actually play. There have been very good ideas and not so good ones - all upset one side or the other. That's why I think we should lock them all in a room to sort it out :? The continual changes are not good for the game. Players from all sides are threatening to quit or stop donating every update. Not good for any aspect of the game

The new bands for higher levels are not so great. There are just too few players here to really pvp. As for your new system...Now hitting someone outside of the 10 levels only steals rating...so people are getting posted for attacking for nothing but rating. Just seems to make pvp pointless!

whatever maybe you have not much targets... but for player till lvl 200-300 they have hundreds players who can hit for gold, and its good for game balance to reduce it!
good update pvp rating for pvp attack, not for stealing gold or exp lose.
and maybe if player cant steals your exp and gold, no scene in bounty board? lvls +-10

If they want to stop farming they could just stop to reset ratings (that is what is causing more and more complains).
PvP was working fine before all these updates. Dont give rating back to those who dont want it and you stop the farming (and probably 90% of complains).
To fix a single aspect of the game (the ladder) we had dozens of updates, hundreds of forum threads (all usually ending in fighting beteen players). Is it fixed?
PvPers complains about farmers (and they have a good point), no PvPers complains about being farmed (and thats another good point).
Dont reset rating and farmers wont be able to keep a high rating, and no PvP wont be treated like cows to milk.
... but im losing faith, i love this game, but enjoynment of game experience has never been so low. :cry:

I try to avoid hitting for rating outside the ladder, as I consider it to be farming. Most of my rating I make doing gold hits. And thats the way it should be. You should gain rating from doing PvP. Be it for gold or XP or bio threats or whatever. Rating alone should NOT be the reason for hitting unless you're competing on the ladder. Removing gold loss just makes the system look more and more tradable. Bad, baaaad cows.

Rating shouldn't be the main basis for why you hit someone.. open up the gold hitting within your bracket range so that we can enjoy having more targets again at the higher levels. You can keep XP loss out of it if you'd like, but at least make Gold hits available.
Also, can you think about opening up the rating transfers on the bounty boards a little more? Maybe make it to +/- 1-2 PVP bands (50-100) levels either way. It would mean people would be able to bounty rating farm again, but would bring an influx of rating into the higher end PVP ranges. Also, it might stop some of this "Mind if I hit you for rating, I'll pay you for it if you don't bounty or hit me back".. *sigh*.. with this update you are just encouraging that type of behavior even more.

First I really liked the 100 bands I wasnt a big fan of it being exactly at 100 but at least I waited before I deleved myself to 299.
I had suggested this before and really think it should be considered,,,Take ALL the players of FS and divide them into 10 groups. Make the bands go by these percentages so each band has exactly the same number of players in it. Escecially now I can't imagine what 1000-1050 must be like! These bands would stay basically the same but slowly change to reflect the changing in base levels. The pros of this would be that each player gets in a band that is set with as many players as it can and within a acceptable level gap off their level. PvP would benefit because as "super" combos are found more players will go to that level changing the percentage and the bands levels. This also will be a boon as it will reflect the fact there are way more lower leveled players than higher. The only con is yet another change, I feel whatever is decided its time to say this is how its going to be and leave it at that and move on to other things.
Another suggestion i would like to have considered, make the domminanace medal a "tick" type. Basically whoever is #1 in their ladder at the top of each hour gets 1/24 of a day to the medal. There are just too many players hitting at 23:59. the pros of this would be more medals being earned and pride in that but also a lot less midnight hitters. the cons are only that players who earned it the old fasined way will feel cheated but I think they do already since the old school medal was for one ladder not 12,,,,,24?
Otherwise its a great update, the gold theft made too many people get bent out of shape and it really didnt seem fair a 399 could mug a lvl 301,hitting only for rating will make this better.

Could not resist a comment to this. Any attack on another player for what ever reason is still an attack. So they lose no xp, gold or what ever. It was still an attack that damaged gear and interrupted their peace and tranquility. They can and should bounty every attack.

And probably about a 1000 in each band below level 500.
PvPers are more than likely more upset at the fact their range has now been limited to what it was and that makes it harder for them to get gold.
No longer do they have a big field of cows to milk.

In this latest update we have made the following changes...
PvP Ladder Tokens
Due to there now being more PvP Bands, we have reduced the PvP Tokens awarded when the PvP Ladder is reset. The new PvP Tokens allocated are 5, 2 and 1 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Hoof I realize that you don't want too many tokens coming in at once, but considering that I need to finish 1st place 3 times to make even 1 Xiphos Piece. I need to finish 1st place 6 times to create a set. If I finish second place, I need 6 second place finishes to create 1 piece of xiphos gear(12 first place finishes for a set), even with the reduced bracket sizes the competition for spots 1,2, and 3 is only SLIGHTLY decreased. Please consider rewarding 1st-5th.
I understand that there are more or about the same # of tokens coming into the game, but they are spread out over so many players that the only gear going to be made will be low end stuff since you only need 1 hard to get first place finish.

Thats not the point. No gold loss was the final drop that made the extended PvP ranges pointless except for those who will only PvP to farm rating for the rewards. This update would actually look better if they removed the extended ranges.. And thats saying a lotThere is an answer to those who trade PvP and the answer is become a farmer yourself and farm their rating from them, oh and completely deny that you're a farmer even though you'll have no problems taking the rewards from the session of farming(Of which quite a few of you were/are "nobly" doing anyway).

Can someone explain how this is possible now with the ladder being reset so often? I thought the whole pvp ladder issue was to 'fix' a problem with the dominance aspect
