well something happened with arena today. Any arena news is good news???

Like a comatose patient thats been on ventilator for months. Someone pulls the plug and miracle o miracle the patient breathes on his own.

Too bad the relatives ( = the players) were not told anything , nor was continued life support or more curative measures discussed.

here is praying for a thought-through rotation , taking into account the low chances to invent last batches of sets.

please talk to arena players, I am 99% sure a common ground on how "we" would like to rotate stuff can be achieved.

AND PLEASE NO MORE NEW SETS FROM ARENA UNTIL ROTATION IS FIXED AND THE ARENA IS ALIVE AGAIN.

+1

In fact, even after the fixes are made....we don't need any new gear as such....though a brand new batch of potions (both bound as well as some unbound) would be great,as has been suggested numerous times before

update: so far semi-obsolete crysts spawning and components for the "yes it blew up again sets" are not coming anymore.

update 2: yay for extractor and inventor pots and yay for EW1000 in level 80 toruneys and yay for probably no more chumanas, eadgtyhs and so on components.

selling styxes at 999 FSP lmao

Pull the ventilator back on....

i would rather reduce those recipes and hundreds of moves daily and bring all items into arena instead rotation

bthw the Lunge move is taking place for most frequent arena prize at 2010 :D

All these latest moves have done is just stalled things even more. People do not want to pay the entry fees to win prizes like torrils, Phelans and level 35 extractor pots. Hoofmaster, you said that you were going to work on FIXING things. This does the opposite. *throws hands up*. It's okay, just forget about the arena and go back to work on the rest of the game. It's obvious no one is listening to those who play there. Happy New Year.

I for one hoof LOVE this change...instead of waiting 2-3 days for arenas to fill up now its taking 30min to 1 hr.

Just keep an even mix of old and newer coming in.

to those complaining....I know its not the update you wanted but you cant deny it has made arenas move faster today!!

so THANK YOU HOOF AND HCS

Emmmm....what's going on?

I think everyone who takes part in the arena can agree that it would be completely dead if the price decay on components had not been implemented. But decreasing the cost of entry for increasingly worthless components is not going to reinvigorate interest in this aspect of the game.

AND, reintroducing extr, inv, sw & FI250 pots, as well as older crystal gear that still, in general, seems to have very little value in the AH (chronos was only rotated out quite recently...Oct/Nov...I'm not sure) will do very little to encourage new players to start nor to maintain the interest of the existing players.

The "cost of entry" versus "potential benefit" ratio really needs to be thought about. I'm not advocating that prizes need to be uber-powerful (as gear usually stays in the arena for too long, the market saturates, the price plummets and the players who bought the gear think twice before buying a newly released set) but most players do not seem interested in acquiring what is currently on offer.

Samurais Yin Yangs are back! 7 minutes for that arena to fill up. Essense of pearl too. Good to see some recipes that had become impossible to find.
Hopefully the crystalline gear won't be there for long (except maybe chronos). Hopefully the chumanas components are still there as these were selling for a good price making these arenas worthwhile entering.

I suppose in looking at it that it's a good thing that a few of the component items are back, those needed to create expensive and much used sets. However, as has been stated, reintroducing the old small level potions at the expense of other items is crazy. I am waiting patiently to see how the overall arena revamp looks once it's done.

hip hip hoooray...finally a change in prizes...i see some older players complaining about that...well some of us that are just getting into arena can really use those pieces and components (so dont join them)..so i am very happy to see them...but..i think they can appease everyone..if they would just rotate all the arena prizes (and add many more)..into a big rotation that changes every few days..not the way it is now where a certain set of prizes runs for a certain time.....this would keep everything fresh and not overload the ah....something does need to be done to introduce many more players to arena...

No more chumanas components for now by the looks of it :(
Probably need to lower the entry fee on phellans gear, the cost vs usefulness doesn't stack up even if it is only an 8 player arena.. also the entry cost for all players combined for a chronos piece is about 22fsp, in a few weeks they'll be selling for about 12fsp probably.

Do HCS normally make a news announcement if prizes change? I wonder if an arena config file or something got corrupted so they just restored a copy from months ago..

totally illogic change.

Suggestions :

1. have 2 separate arenas , one for moves , one for the rest

2. stop spawning crap potions. Period.

3. Have recipes for old stuff spawning at very low rate.

4. Have recipes for new stuff ( nothing at the moment that is new) spawning at high rate first week, then very low rate.

5. Have all crysts spawning at low rate, except Volkers and Takeos which can spawn medium rate

6. Have all components spawning with higher rate for freshly introduced sets and sets that have high chance to blow up. Follow the patterns of how fast peeps join and how many sets and components there are in the game .

Would be 1-2 hours work tops to create an algorithm that would be solid enough for most arena players to be happy.

tho its good to see a change it happened to quick as arena players what should have stayed and what should have came in.

also can you tell us if you will EVER get round to changing the mechanics of the arena.

1 more thing for the love of god and FS please gives us more moves matches to take out the stupid luck factor it gets annoying after a while watching HCS puppets win over n over with the luck (HCS CODING) helping them out thanks and i hope you had a great holiday.

amazing!! Something happened and kept us active for a couple of hours. BUT....not even a day later and which arenas are the ones which already have reduced entry fees by over 50%......exactly, the new items!
Apparently this change was not thought about again and really looks like a "push the button to load old setup" action. Which then makes me wonder again why this would not be possible every couple of weeks which would keep some variation in!

...and I still don't get the idea why one batch has the recipes for items but not the components and then half a year later a batch comes with the components but not the recipes :?

1) I agree, but also Increase the amount of tournies that have the prize of a combat move and reduce their cost heavily. The more people with all their moves means increase an in players playing the arena: a good thing.

2) Yes this too; unless you use these crap potions and similar prizes for "excluding" medalled or maybe just crystal medalled players out of these tournaments to encourage participation from those less experienced.

3) Yes or put all recipes in a shop.

4) Yes or put all recipes in a shop.

5) Yes; but for ALL crystal, unless they stop UB 190 distilling to UB200 and causing no decay on spine (wasn't the whole idea of introducing UB 190 and removing UB 200 to introduce wear on crystal? hehe)

6) Yes

Look at that I agree 100% (well almost Cel :D) , it's no shock really it purely common sense from people who are very active and addicted to the arena.

and saku yes, i dont think I am registered in one tournament at the moment. Been online for over 2 hours :( If the idea was to get the arena addicts to stop their habit: it may be working LMAO

Frankly speaking folks,no pt in wasting your time making the same suggestions again & again.....it's clear that the devs are absolutely not bothered about arena & even if they're...the only fix they've in mind is band aids like either introducing brand new gear or bringing back the majority of lame old ones ,without taking into consideration any actual fix suggested by various arena stalwarts in a no of different threads over the past couple of months

They conveniently avoid all arena threads even though they've time to make thoughtful posts like this in the EOC content thread,a couple of minutes back :

Tis enchanted yellow snow...wooo...sparkle...yellow magic! :D
