I think part of the issue here is that alot of people are not looking at this from a pvp'ers point of view, and since the ladder is about pvp that should be part of it. There is often talk of the 'unwritten' rules in pvp. The ladder has changed the way alot of typical pvp players have to do things, and it goes against our sense of pvp morality to do some of the things we are forced into doing.

In straight pvp, if a player hits someone they respect being hit back. They aren't going to place a bounty. They are going to go tit for tat, exchange hits, and have fun with it. If someone hits and places a bounty, it is what we consider 'double dipping'. We strip levels off people who do this to our members.

On the ladder, the nature of playing it requires players to hit and be hit by others. Placing a bounty is not the respectable thing to do if you are hitting as well. It goes against the 'unwritten' rules.

If a player is locking their xp to protect it, and then going out and 100 stamming people and doing damage, that player is tying the hands of how the other person can even respond. They have no choice but to place a bounty, which they can not hit on themselves to get 'even' for what they lost. Instead, they have to bring in guildmates and friends to do the damage for them. For a guild like WK's, it is usually not an issue to find hitters. But in the typical guild, you are not going to find alot of people willing to hit on bounties when you are hitting people as well.

Hoof, I thing your idea works well with this scenario. It removed a players ability to hit others safely, and makes them deal with the inherent 'risk' that pvp is suppose to have.

I know Commie but I don't agree. I lost 15 levels on 1 hit and had to regain, that's part of the game. Those with XP lock are only playing half of the PvP ladder while those of us without it are playing the whole game. You know I respect you more than most here, but I strongly disagree.

Ok, I hear that. But to be fair, you lost those levels on the BB. You did not lose them by hitting back and forth with folks to see who is best with a blade. I don't think the game is losing one bit of its merit by keeping deleveling on the BB. That's where 99% of it happens anyhow!

Additionally, I have noticed that the majority of folks commenting on the nix-lock side are from WK. I happen to know that folks from this guild have interest in taking XP as a punishment for another guild. NOT as a friendly piece of the PvP puzzle. I also know that this is not your reasoning and that there are others who just get upset when they can't take XP; but, it is worth noting the source for the majority of the argument.

I have counted 5 guilds that have many members posting here saying that XP lock should be removed, not just WK. Trying to make it seem as if this is a 1 guild issue is short sided when in reality it would seem the majority of the PvP community disapproves of its use.
Answer me this: If you hit me with 100 stam and take my XP, why should I not have the same right to hit you back and take xp? It's real easy to run around 100 stamming PvPers who are far less likely to bounty when your XP is locked. I dont remember the last time I 10 stammed someone other than when clearing a bounty and always expect to lose XP on a return hit just as PvP should be.
