Nice sig, text looks pretty good imo

If your using ps you need to do it like this:-

1) Make your text (is done)
2) turn off text layer
3) apply image
4) turn on text layer
5) set clipping mask on top layer (the applied image)

Then just move the top layer around to set the clipmask how you want it.

Try to use different stocks in your bg, instead of just duplicating your image, and doing different filters and brushing on that. And when you use gradient maps, try to lower the opacity or try different blending modes. Hope this helps.

It's a nice sig to be fair.

Good blending of the focal, you have the mix of sharp/blur done well.
It's a little empty on the right hand side (perhaps apply, flip horizontal and then do some deft erasing/mask brushing).

Still, a very decent grunge siggy.

A lot better than my early works when i started out.
