Wow, that sucks. And the recipe is not listed int he FSG so you have no idea of how often it is supposed to drop
the other items dropped by the same creature that drops the recepies have a drop rate of 0.3%, and i don't think i have ever seen a creature that have different drop rates for different items... so i think 0.3% would be a good guess
and the "bad news" doesn't stop there.... to invent the Longsword of Fate you need one drop from a normal creature (drop rate 0.3%) and 6 drops from Elites (each with the "high" drop rate of 2.67%)
if i remember correctly i had to kill quite alot of elites when i did the quest, and that was some time ago when FI didn't work as intended.... so good luck to the people doing that quest now...

lol with the current FI, that quest sounds about as fun as root canal treatment. especially the part of tracking down a million elites.
oh well, i guess at least the awesome quest reward makes it worth it.
...oh wait.

Yes, and as I said, I have spoken to the Coders to do a change to drop rates according to creature type. Hopefully we'll get something done soon. It has to be through Coders as frankly, Sword is far too big to attempt to do it manually.

I've submitted a support ticket asking HCS once again to look specifically at drop rates for quest items (linking to this thread), so if you know any other quests which require non-resource/quest finder affected items then please list them here.
I know most of Karthak is along those lines, so there might be a good place to begin!

People spend all that time and effort on killing elites, SEs and others, only to be rewarded with.. NOTHING (except the satisfaction of killing it and the occasional drop if they're lucky)

and lots of patience, but it's not impossible.
no, with fi1k it will [according to the math] take 500 kills to get the recepies and one of the swords, and around 110 elites to get the other 6 swords... (but then again random can give you alot more or less if it's in that mood
it still feels like just a little to much for a quest that doesn't have the (EP) in it's name...

ok..so now they say the coders are working on the drop rates.....hoooray....they need to work on it today..tomorrow, next day until it is finished...imho this drop rate thing needs to be fixed long before anything else is done with the game...this is affecting every player in the game..every minute of the game..please fix quickly...
So the droprate "issue" that affects a handful of quests needs to be worked on before the new map system (which they are working on), new skills and other improvements? Ehrm, no, not at all actually.

Don't know for sure as I wasn't part of it.
Still... it's a QUEST. That's all. Pass it up, then. FI is finally working the way it was supposed to.
