We may look into running an official IRC server in the future.
I really don't see the point in that. This will ultimately lead to more problems as players try to control a game that ultimately should be peaking due to it's 'professional' development team not the people who play the game.
By it's very definition, 'playing a game' means to have fun, to enjoy. If the players have to put forward their input because the developers cannot see the faults themselves then it's a sad day.
Players are there to play, developers to develop, simple logistics.
The one thing hcs should have, and I am absolutely convinced of this, is a committed test team, committed to playing and testing the game to ensure releases come about that work and are relatively, if not completely, bug free at release.
To be fair, the new skills were handled pretty well and some good things have been introduced to the game.
It's the things that have not been addressed that seem to concern players the most. Issues that are there that should not be there, that is the biggest current problem and has been the problem for some time.
If those can be sorted out then perhaps the game has a future. It should be sorted out in house though, not by players who all have different ideas about things and how they should be done.
