PvP Ladder Opt-in

A new option has been added to the Preferences page which will allow you to opt-in to the PvP Ladder. Note however this will not take effect until the next PvP Ladder reset, which will take place on Monday.
On Monday, we will be releasing game update v1.82 which will include many of the changes discussed during the live discussion on Saturday evening. You can see a summary of the planned changes by clicking here.
Remember, changing your opt-in/out status for the PvP Ladder will only take effect when the PvP Ladder is reset.

I suggest using irc again in the future with regards to major updates... ie:pvp, arena, gvg etc.A great way to communicate.
i do like this except a lot of people cant get on there or be there when it is planned so a lot of people get left out of it...

Problem with IRC is some of us cannot access it. I for one cannot get any thing but a black page to load that says failure to connect. So it is a site reserved for the elite? The forum was created for feedback. Maybe HCS should just start reading their own product, instead of going elsewhere for feedback.
Seems pretty sad that HCS does not trust their own systems.

I can't access it either, tried tonight and got nothing but a blank page. Non HCS sites and player run sites should not be the way decisions are made that effect the entire game. Such a small minority of voices in a game of thousands is not a large enough sample size of solutions for anything let alone changes that are so drastic.

Definitely not a good option. I could get on (this time) but the messages moved so fast I couldn't keep up with what was being talked about. And the white lettering on a black background killed my eyes.I can not access it either. Yeah... When exactly is a good time to chat with people from every single time zone in the world? The issue is not that we cannot access it at all ,we just could not access it last night . for whatever reason.

PvP is almost a 'no-win' for HCS. All they can do is try to tick the least amount of people off at once and the IRC looks to have worked well and applaude all who participated and HCS for listening. I have gone over a bunch of the log and think 3 lines sum up what I saw as the underlying problem and resulting decline in the online numbers.

The Opt In will give a sense of the Warriors coming together to do battle against each other.
Let the Fighters stand toe to toe, leave the civies out of it and let the heads roll!
Thanks for the extended effort of all to strengthen the game! 8~)

then when you log into chatzilla(this will always be listed in tools after you add it)
type /server irc.fallenswordirc.com
http://i54.tinypic.com/2zef5va.jpg
when that loads up for you then type /join #fallensword
http://i56.tinypic.com/dgqo0w.jpg
it works a lot better than the java link they give you on the homepage.

Those of you who had trouble connecting, were you using firefox 4 by chance? This is typically a problem at the moment until a few updates are made; they're in the works. Until then, if firefox isn't allowing you in via the web based try another browser or if you're using irc regularly a client for irc is advisable for a variety of reasons.
*chatzilla - great for firefox users, you have a couple of color schemes to choose from and both are easy to read. Easily customized to auto-identify a registered name for the server, autojoin channels of choice and its easy to set up a notification for when your name is used. https://addons.mozil... ... chatzilla/ the easiest way to join fsirc from it is to use a click-able link which will launch the client.
*mIRC - nice little program, more bells and whistles than chatzilla but can also be launched via a clicked link. http://www.mirc.com/ for downloading the client.
*Icechat - similar in ways to mirc, but with a different feel, here's another option to try for the PC user - http://www.icechat.net/site/
*Colloquy - Using a Mac? Don't feel left out, there is an irc client for you too! http://colloquy.info/ so feel free to check that out.
*Colloquy for Iphone - on the go? not a problem either, http://colloquy.mobi/
There are lots of other clients out there to use, but those are my personal top choices.
If you're using a client, the quickest way to join the fallensword irc chat room is to click irc://irc.fallenswordirc.com/fallensword it will bring you right into the room, if you've registered your name you'll still need to identify, if you haven't registered then you're good to go.
A word of advice to mibbit users - in a word, "don't" - find a different access method since if someone else using mibbit earns a ban temporarily you too may end up feeling the consequences due to the nature of that chat client. There are plenty of other options.
The web based access I believe is being worked (and updated), the color scheme may well be changed as well. I'll be talking to ZidaneT about the color scheme(s) that may be offered on the web based application and hopefully the update there will see a more eye pleasing display.
If you have any questions about irc clients feel free to drop me a line. I'm most familiar with mIRC and chatzilla.

If you're looking for a multi-type client, all my support is for Trillian, if you're using Windows, Mac, iDevices, or Android. If you're on Linux, you're probably good with Pidgin.
Both have good IRC support, as well as many other protocols.
