4) PvP Protection will be changed to it will only protect 10k gold per level (capped at 10 million gold protected). XP protection will be unchanged.

Alone you probably not-understand this word !!!! protection !!!! if we can afford protection we want entirely to be protected from PvP attacks. The stupidest thing with which you could only think out invented

People were using the PvP protection to manipulate the market place. Of course it needed to be changed in a way that would end this exploit.

If we DON'T 'opt in' for the PvP Ladder, can we still PvP anyone regardless of their opt in of the ladder status?

So if I feel the need and havn't opted in to the PvP Ladder, can I still 100 stam someone who also hasn't opted in? And they still Lose XP as normal, just not PvP rating?

EDIT: If I am reading it right we can still PvP anyone within our -/+ 10 level range for XP/Gold loss if they havn't bought PvP protection... we just don't gain rating from the hits if neither player has opted in for the ladder?

correct mr carpy lol u can still smack ppl for xp and gold ..its just now if anyone wants pvp rating they have to hit others who are after the same thing hence making it not as easy as it was...is why i cant understand so much crying from some...i seen a few hardcore pvper see this as ok as they still get to beat ppl and now they can fairly rob em too all good imo... but stops the free milk train for some who would farm ppl every reset knowing there was no fear from a bounty either cause it wasnt placed or it did little effect now if they nick rating the person they nicked it off will want it back plus the gap is alot wider on targets

While opting in and out is a good thing, I really dislike capping protected gold to level x 10k, for me that is only 8,8 mil, and other cap is 10mil. This change will definetly rise gold price, we shall soon see 200k gold prices. Also, I have 16 days of expensive protection, does full protection stay until it is over, or do I get refund / extend?

Once the Opt-in service for the PvP ladder begins, how will we know who has opted in? As it is now nobody appears on the PvP ladder until people start hitting each other after the reset. Under this new system will everyone who has opted in appear on the ladder with 1000 rating after a reset?

So... today pvp protection means a player cannot be attacked. Tomorrow?

If protection is purchased and gold is below the protection cap will a player still be unable to be attacked?
(I realise there would seem to be little point in attacking a player for no reward, but it still happens - players wishing to get others to pay for their deleveling for instance).

Also - if a player purchases this reduced protection what is to prevent anyone sending them enough gold to take them above the protection cap?

You can change the level of the "Blocking level" under preferences. If it's set to guildmates and allies, anyone outside that list will not be able to send you gold.

Thank-you Bry.

The AH cannot be blocked though (I know - that wouldn't be a 'malicious' gold send) - a long forgotten bid might get returned or a gold sale be made - you may be offline or mid hunt and not expecting it. Maybe an ally decides to send their gold to you to hold without asking. I just feel if a player pays for the protection and there is a limit to that protection then there needs to be a way to safeguard the investment in the protection.

Perhaps just a simple pop up telling you you are within x% of the protected limit?

Dale is right on the money there, and has asked the question before I managed to.

"How will we know who's opted in or out?"

I already have a limited time on this game, and I am not going to waste my time attempting to hit everyone in the 1000-1100 band.

I'm in this for the Dominance medal, and tokens if possible, but it will be interesting to see if any band is dominated by a small group of people as a result of this change.

Hoof said that there will be a way to see and search for the opted-in players. Something along the lines of enhancing the find player section.

From IRC:
[2011-04-02 13:44:24] <RD> will there be a way to search for opted in players ?

[2011-04-02 13:44:29] <Hoofmaster> RD: Yes

[2011-04-02 13:44:34] <Hoofmaster> RD: It would be required really

[2011-04-02 13:44:44] <Hoofmaster> RD: We'll expand the find player section

It's good that there will be a way to see who has "opted in", however, I think it would just be easier if everyone who has opted in for the PvP ladder prior to the reset just appears on the ladder with 1000 beginning PvP rating once the ladder resets. That would be very simple. Then you would know exactly how many people are on the ladder for that rating period and you could plan your attacks accordingly. The list will not increase until the next ladder reset so I think this would solve the problem quite nicely and no searching would be involved.

The live discussion is a good way to talk over ideas.

In the future, if you have problems accessing the chat please let us know on the forum so we can try to help.

Did post on the forum. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=102148&p=1141081#p1141081

I have never in all the years I have played this game been able to access the IRC. Making final decisions based off of IRC leaves most of your players out. If that is the way you wish to receive feedback. Just shut the forum down. Why waste our time asking for opinions and input on the forum, if your not going to even consider them.

you missed this thread? viewtopic.php?f=1&t=102148 17-pages of discussion and a poll "Do you like the idea of an opt-in for the PvP Ladder?" 200 people voted with 78% yes

after that thread was closed Hoof was in IRC and talked some more to players about how the opt-in system should work....

it all started with another forum thread, they [HCS] did an poll in the forum and then took some additional input from IRC, based on the result of that poll....

ONLY Players who have opted in to the ladder will have "rating" which is then "fought over" ... everyone else.. won't have a pvp rating.

I don't think it will be too hard for HCS to tweak find player ;) to find pvp ladder targets.
