Here's an idea, weekly or bi weekly offers, with pvp or leveling potions. 1 or the other. rotate the options.. ie: players pick between conserve 500 or terror 750 one offer... next offer is constitution 400 or lib 400.. etc etc.

Polls are specific for a reason, the idea was raised in forum for a believed specific need. If specific polls give neg results won't vaguely worded polls cause pos results for vague notion, how would the cows interpret that?

More than one Choice!!??!! There are problems when the cows up allegiance points when they did an offer!

Pls, be serious when posting.

As I said - if the poll produces a positive result for 'change' then it would be worth HCS creating an official thread to discuss how it's done.

I know I've voted 'No' in 2 recent polls because I disagreed with the method, not the concept itself. I don't really see the point in having a poll which leads to nothing - this would be a way of gauging opinion.

Here's an example:

"Would you like to see more variety in levelling?" - Undoubtedly yes from many players.

"Would you like creatures to have double hitpoint to make levelling 'harder'?" - Undoubtedly no, as it doesn't create variety.

The former would indicate that some discussion on levelling ideas would be a good idea - the latter simply points out that people don't consider a stamina drain to be a 'challenge' and would prefer something different!

Maintenance

Here I don't see the problem. If a player loses items in their mailbox due to maintenance they send a ticket and get another one. What I do have a problem with in that method of compensation is that if it is perfect/FFed you get an uncrafted/unforged one back. That's lame, but the price you pay.

You get problems here if you have lots of items in the mailbox during the downtime. Who can remember exactly what they had on auction? A perfectionist might write everything down - but is that really necessary for playing a game in a casual way?

There is a log of what items don't sell. It should remain in your log at least 48 hours, under normal circumstances. So you don't need to write everything down. Again, the problem arises when you ask for compensation of a crafted and/or forged item. How do they know what you had so they give you a plain one.

But if they want to extend mailboxes during maintenance times, so be it. What I don't want to see are players who use their mailbox as BP space, especially during events, being given special treatment. Upgrade the BP slots, period. I want players to stop circumventing upgrades. No wonder we see these desperate looking measures, like uber pots with donations, becoming commonplace. Wholes in the game need to be filled after 4 years! This is only one.

In-Game Polls

Makes sense - in the more recent polls we've tried to include a link to the relevant discussion thread. When we put up polls, they are more to gauge an opinion, rather than be the deciding factor if something is implemented/changed.

Maintenance

Extending them for 24 hours makes sense and we'll look to do that for future maintenance that requires downtime.

Note that we do currently extend mailboxes, buffs and auctions for the duration of the downtime.

Offer Potions

We'll try to make them more varied in the future (or give a choice of which potion you would like :))

Weekend Event Support

We have at least one member of the team working on support everyday (including weekends). We'll try to have more of the team monitoring the game and support during events in the future :)

I've been very impressed with the amount of work going into the game right now - even if some players will always be unhappy about what the current focus is - and would like to iron out the little wrinkles that seem to stand in the way of clear communication.

We try our best :)

Idea for the special potions,

The special offers generally last 48 or 72 hours

so after each 24 hours have a different potion become available.

This allows more variety, probably gets more donations for people who want each type of pot, and keeps the market from flooding too much with any 1 particular pot.

This idea also allows a slight gamble for those planning to donate only once, if you keep the other potions hidden. You either donate right away and get a potion you like, or you wait to see if the next 24 hour donations will get you a potion more suited to your game style.

if I'm dropping $60 I wanna know what potion is gonna be better suited...so if I pass on the 1st potion in hopes for a better one the 2nd 24 hrs then I won't donate for a pot I don't want. (hell I don't donate for the xp boosters)

And now for the FS Box report button ... PLEASE!

A current FS Box message: i ****ed ur mom veryy ****ing hard tottally hard yayaaaaaaaaaaa ughhhhhhh

This adds NOTHING to the game for anyone and the poster should be suspended at least and preferably prevented from using the FS Box or Shout Box in future.

We need that button.

Good stuff overall and keep up the good work!

I agree 100% on the circumvention aspect. Players hould need the upgrades to do what they want to do without an exploit.

On the log issue - normally 24-48 hours is more than adequate. The issue with recent updates/maintenance has been the deletion of pre-maintenance logs. This has been troublesome given the recent maintenance-event-maintenance sequence, leaving me and others with no record of what we sent to players before the game went down. I have several free BP slots, so I'm not abusing my mailbox - but I'd like to know what happened :)

Special treatment - no! Common sense protection for the unfortunate - yes!

On Support issue:

I think a forum player-moderator could alleviate a lot of the need for weekend support. I know I've mentioned this in another thread, but there are lots of players addicted to this game that HCS knows they could trust and give some simple operating keys. They wouldn't be able to fix lag or return items, etc... but they could easily remove FSBox messages or on rare occasions perhaps suspend forum privileges (I hesitate to give any non-Cow the ability to "freeze" a game account, but it might be feasible as well). It would be the kind of constant supervision that I know many here have asked for, especially on scammer-friendly weekends.

They could then access a moderator forum, post an event explanation, and receive feedback as needed. The Cows would really need only monitor THAT forum on weekends, and that might directly e-mail them when something is posted. In the event it is something major the Cows will now know and can act accordingly.

Player-Mods could even get medals for their service.

I volunteered as a moderator on a sports-themed board for several years not too long ago and it was an eye-opening experience to say the least. I enjoyed it, but I think it was also very enlightening.

There used to be forum Mods... Cows got rid of them, but didn't actually step up to do the job that the Mods used to do, which is sad and frustrating.

Yes, the Cows moderate the boards now, but not nearly as effectively as the Mods used to, since the Cows have a game to run, too, and aren't online 24/7, which is necessary for a 24/7 game.

If HCS is going to run a 24/7 game, they need to have at least 1 person in the office 24/7.
