LEVEL/VL EXPLOIT FIX SUGGESTION

FYI, VL and AL has been part of the game at least for as long as I've played, 2007. (what they did to fix the exploit back then was merging the Reset Levelup Points upgrade and the Reset Skill Points upgrade to a Player Reset upgrade.)
EDIT: If this suggestion should go through, ALL hits must take XP/gold and there should be no reduction in the XP lock upgrade as suggested by HCS in revision 10.

Making deleveling someone worth more than a PvPer's worthless "respect". I love it!

if the harassed player's guildmates could stop the attacks by taking enough levels from the harassers [ that might require as many as 21 levels if the attacker started out 10 levels higher by the way ] then there would be no need to depend on HC to resolve the problem.Your friend could do something so many others have done and place a ticket in for harassment.
besides that it is well known that the cows do nothing about this kind of harassment. i have been giving defensive buffs to the person who is still being harassed and she has filed tickets but HC refuses to act. i heard of one case, involving a friend of a poster on this thread it seems, where someone was hit with 100 stam attacks 100 times and still HC did nothing.
dougmines' proposal allows a guild willing to step up to defend its members to put a complete stop to the harassment by risking losing a lot of levels themselves. it is not like deleveling someone does not carry a high price. so i think the people opposing this proposal just want losing levels to be almost meaningless to people who mainly pvp even though is is a big deal to people who are trying to level. since people on the bounty board hide their gold and people not playing the ladder do not care about rating, the bounty board becomes ineffective as a result. that is why we see people who have lost 20 or more levels and it is not interfering with how they play the game at all.
So,
1+

pvpers actually can gain more xp when they lvl because using sacrifice when deleveled for more xp gold from a kill is already so low that it doesnt matter dont forget the xtra 10% from prestige
Anyone who has been deleveled and wishes to relevel can use the sacrifice buff

As to OP's op: The formula could effect all FS community at some point to correct one persons problem, so not a good idea. What if PvPer got friend deleveled? Friend would be in same predicament.
As to "help" from PvPers: 1. Paying for protection or fixing xp is too expensive for many in the FS community. 2. The so-called "deserve it" statement is also misleading: if i insult your mother, are you going to pummel me hourly? The correct answer is no since cost of stamina is too precious for real levelers and PvPers. 3. The buffs do not last. All PvPer has to do is wait for buffs to expire.
4. Deleveling usually does no good either because skill points/level up points were not allocated or Gear of PvPer for rl is as powerful as vl.
What person needs is a defense set, guild to have First Strike shrine, and Bounty Tickets. May not work, but at least your fighting.
Scum, scum, scum ... oh still thinking about PvPers excluding former and current FS friends, guildmates, and Guns for Hire (Heroes for Hire).

There's an exploit.
I don't mind getting rid of VL altogether, but I think the easiest fix is the one that affixes xp/gold gain to the level of the VL no matter where the player is. *shrugs*

As for those bugged by players being able to delevel them selves when they sit in a high realm and then leveling there, why dont you do it? Let me see you take the HUGE trouble of getting deleveled 100 levels, and then spend 200 FSP to reset ur character, then level back up...

Theres no problem in that, especially when you dont reset your level up points. Like you shouldnt.

it is about making the loss of levels important enough to pvpers that levelers would risk losing their own levels to use the bounty board.
as things are, levels seem about as important to pvpers as pvp rating does to levelers.
as a result the bounty board is not really useful to levelers.

Along with making it to where the level of buffs you can cast be dependent on actual level to stop people from exploiting lower levels.
I.e if your actual level is 999 and VL is 1001 you can't cast level 1000 buffs. (I think this already happens, but wanted to make sure)
