New Map System

Firstly, we would like to thank all players who tested out the new map system on the Alpha Test Server over the last couple of months. Your feedback has been very useful for fixing issues and helping improve it.
We are now at a stage where we feel confident that we can release it onto the live servers (initially as an option that can be enabled via your Preferences). We're adding it as an option initially to allow us to iron out any final issues with it.
If you've not already tried it out, we think you'll find it to be a massive improvement to the game in terms of both speed and playability.
Our aim is to take the game down for an update within the next two days to release the new map system (note that we'll give you advance warning once we have a confirmed time and we'll also extend everyone's mailboxes, buffs etc.)
Note also we are aware that some users are experiencing an issue with receiving the 'You cannot move more than 1 square at a time.' message and we will be looking into that tomorrow.
Many thanks for your continued support of the game!
~ The Fallen Sword Team

Taking the game down during the 2 week window of Wickerman (14 minus the 2+ days it hasnt spawned already). Much appreciated
We'll extend the window by whatever the downtime will be - don't worry

I was personally hoping the new system was going to be ready before wikerman to make the field completely even for everyone, but with the new map hopefully the new UI works better.

Also, i really love the new feel the game is getting, the graphic makeovers on items, pagestyles, worldmap and so on. You guys are doing a really good job!
I know you get this a lot, but only because it's true: You should really consider implementing some of the FS helper features into the game, after you're done working the map and design

Can I ask you give us at least 4 hours notice on the downtime, some times a leveling run can last a couple of hours and its a nightmare if we get stalled and can't finish and then can't get time later to finish the hunt and buffs/pots run out.
Thanks Hoof and the team

Not to mention that players haven't been allowed to test Titan hunting at all. With a grand total of 2 Titans tested.
And.. Aeresi (South)?! Where?! I don't see it!

Plus this amazingly accurate XP bar.

I'm not too supportive of this. Frankly, the new map is far too buggy to be released yet. Not only do group attacks not work, not only are a large amount of the "swamp-themed" maps broken, not only are buffs not showing properly (I actually had 0 imps when it said 4), not only is the click-to-travel AI taking unnecessarily long routes... You get the point.

I agree with all of this, Hoof you guys need to put the map through more testing first. If this fails and becomes to buggy there goes 3/4 of what this game is used for. So why not just take your time to implement?

Not really a big fan of this. As far as I know the delay of the loading of the actions on the square you on is still there...and most slower computer/internet wont be able to keep up...
not a fan at all , leave an option to still use the old version or you will be losing players
I agree with both these. People hate change.

A great deal of people don't like the map or UI that has been put upon us. It is not the change we don't like (change is good), it's the fact that the change is hurting the game.
If you can leave an option of using the old UI and map system for players or, to have the new UI and map option for those who like it in the game, it would solve this little problem.
Grant it, I am not a fan of the UI or map however, I am not a fool either. The map (when working correctly and, on a fast connection) would make titan hunting easier. Downfall is the layout of it all, slow loading time and general overall functionality of it.
If you can leave both systems (old and new map + UI) active in the game (option to use them in preferences), you would keep everyone happy, won't lose players (and money) and, even people who don't like the new system would get a chance to try it out and get use to it.
You have an easier time to win people over to your side and ideas if you give them the time to try it out and, let them fall back to something that is an old faithful (like a comfort blanket/safety blankie). The old UI and map is the blankie.

Good to see Hoof, just wondering has this been tested anywhere other than in theory ?
cause alpha is not faster than fs for me.
The alpha test server is only a single server - you should find it much faster on the live servers
