The original arena used to function well. The original complaints were about random luck factor. 2% hits in non moves and random defelcts etc. The solution to this was to make a system that had exponentially more luck - poisons, fire blasts, etc. Failure. Armor sets became impractical and everybody has been running atk def.
The a few small fixes to the original system would have been perfect. ie: run each simulation 11 times- the winner of that advances to the next round ... elimate dumb luck.
With all the obvious problems in the system that has been around the past few months, the result is a dead arena with many people complaining about the system's flaws.
I am extremely dissapointed that this update is the result, I strongly think that the best decision would be to revert to the old system and improve that.
The current update....4 man tourneys with items that would fill up with reasonable pace when it was 16 is a miserable solution. Past arena win totals(medals) are now moot considering that is so easy to win a tourney with only 4 men. Arena is less about skill now and more about happening to check at :15/:30/:45/:00 and joining right away.
A successful arena is one that has gear that players want to win, if no1 is pvping/playing arena then no1 cares about the gear and most prizes will always have low value.
The result of just throwing out tons of tourneys is just going to be an overflow of arena prizes with absolutly no value.
