Not that I know of. I'm using Chrome most the time now and it won't show the animated ones without me installing an addon that lets them show. I'll do some testing on FF using Add Block and see if you need to change any setting to just block specific ones instead of it blocking all avatars.I've Ad Block installed...but they never seem to block those flashy Avis...do we need to change any of the settings?

^ Unsure if your able to make it simply for Fallensword but as that is, working to every animated image on the web, it's puuuuurfect.

I have that too and it doesn't block them in FF.I think the add on required in FF is not Ad Block....but something similar......Flash Block

I'll take this chance to direct you to both of you sigs...hmmm, they are animated.Honestly, I don't think the animated avatars should be allowed. They take too much time to load and could put certain people under risk of seizure. Plus, they are just generally unpleasant.
Not that it is relevant, but your sigs also violate the sig size limit.

I'll take you to the fact that:
A). They aren't flashing random lights and springing out of nowhere, people DO have animated signatures on the forum.
Also, look at them. They are not bypassing the games system with a new file type, they are simply gifs. They have been allowed for the longest time. And, you think I broke the rule? Don't go to the Graphics community. You might have a hernia from their signatures, beautiful as they are.

Your original post appears to be your opinion and therefore is open to debate. I disagree when you say *you don't think animated avi's should be allowed* as I think they most certainly should.
I have never encountered any problems with animated avi's loading as they always appear instantaneously on a players profile page, you might consider a pc upgrade if this is not the case for you.
Were you actually being serious when suggesting that these animated avis could cause a seizure? Well just incase you were HCS could advertise a health warning on the log on page in relation to the animated avi threat thus preventing players accidentally coming across these monstrosities.
You feel they are generally horrendous. Sorry this could never be an argument to disallow them as this again is only your opinion and is unlikely to be the consencus of the complete FS community. Some of the non animated avi's aren't great so should HCS start disallowing the poor ones. I don't think so.
Now that they are in the game how would you propose HCS get rid of them and how would HCS compensate players who have them / paid fsp for them ? Big headache...no?
There is also the bigger picture here which unfortunately you do not have the foresight to see. The animated avitar is a new marketplace and has opened another avenue for players to make some FSP. With this being the case there may well be some players who have decided to stay with FS rather than quit as they are now able to make some much needed FSP because they can create and sell animated avi's.
Player retention is a good thing.....right?

I know some really flash a lot, so I don't stare or even look at it. Sort of like driving at night: you don't stare into the headlights of the oncoming cars.
I'm offended by some of the overtly sexual Avi's where far too much is exposed, and in highly suggestive poses, as it relegates women to being objects. Despite my offense, I realize it's a cry for attention, so I say live and let live and I hope they find the attention they're lacking in real life.
There is a link to what I suppose can best be described as juvenile porn on one female player's bio, which I find highly offensive. Still wondering why I looked, but won't make that mistake twice. Though the worst is the bios of some that post poetry and narrative that is just offensive, because it's so bad. Some of it contains sexual content that would not be allowed in the Guild Chats of many respectable guilds, so why it's allowed on a profile is beyond me when HCS bans other things. *shrug*

To the first paragraph, you hit it on the nail when you said that it was my opinion. It was only a thought. I'm not calling a witch hunt out on animated avatars. I just generally don't like them.
To the second paragraph, this "marketplace" you speak of is actually quite a farce. It's taking away business from honest avatar makers who spends loads of time on their art. They sell them for around 3-10 FSP, which is quite reasonable for the work involved. But, these animated avatar makers sell theirs for.. I've seen it range from 25 to 50 FSP. Which is ridiculous. Half the time, they are a moving text slap. Ask anyone from the Graphics community how long it would take to make one.
Third, yes it is. But, earning FSP does not entail player retention. Its the community and content that matters.
Trust me, I spent tons of time making the Mentor System along with Zukira. That's what helps player retention.
/end rant.
