meh...don't like easy win...let's see what's gonna happen in December...but, it would be nice to host it instead of participating and bitching to my husband and my kid about low votes I'm getting :P

They probably have no idea what you are even talking about

Or we could both host the next GGT

PMs are allowed dude. I've received two, but haven't sent any in return. I do, however, agree that Wes's piece for round 5 didn't meet the criteria so he should have been appropriately penalized. (Zukira stated that the maximum size was half the face) As an artist, you're obligated to read the requirements. Overall, the GGT's rules MUST be clearer in the future. Things like:
-Are PMs allowed?
-Can we edit our votes?
-What is considered a "troll" vote?
-Will original stocks be required?

MUST be included. This will prevent all the disarray that has turned this from a friendly competition to flame. Also, not to pressure Zukira in any way, but we should pick a more forum-active host next competition. They have to be around to settle disputes like this with fast replies/rules. No offense Zukira.

I agree with Gblade and no offense to Zukira, she has done an excellent job upto this point.
As a more or less retired person (unemployed +3 yrs now) I spend more time on the internet than I should. I would like to volunteer for GBlade's idea for a new GGT Host.
I would not compete, but I would seek advice/counseling from fellow artists and set up a precise set of rules for everyone to follow.
I would also be willing to co-chair another event .... I'm open to ideas / criticizium
edit: how about a 3 person committee ? Assassin, LP & Myself ?

I would not mind 3 people. It would make it easier, as far as rules go we should run it by artists to see if they approve of the rules.

I personally vote for LadyP. No offense to the two of you, she is just active and more level headed.

Hmm. I believe it should be Zukira, Assa and LadyP.

Assa and LadyP are both extremely active, and both have valid, but contradicting opinions. Zukira's not as active but she comes up with some great themes and I must say, I believe to be more level-headed and more organized.

Nope I called dibs on it weeks ago, ask Wes

I vote for LP... 1 - it removes her from the contest. 2 - it removes her from the contest. 3 - where do I send my registration fees?

and besides... I need her to change my avi - Posted Image need her to take the guild off it.

If I win an auction, please notify me in-game

Lol no fair the host shouldn't be based on graphics skills :P
How about whoever calls it first?

Me I call :D

i disagree, the host should have an extensive knowledge of all things related.

First of all, this is my 2nd ggt and the first one I was in I barely paid much attention to the details.
I've saw many of the votes like this one on this ggt...and no "pms are not allowed" rule :/

C - 5/10 hmm, i have to say i partially agree with this piece 'lacking' in more ways then one. if you want a full explanation of why i scored it so low pm me.

that's completely different then what you did pm'in swift.
i did not feel it appropriate to publicly post the reasons i voted the way i did, and anyone that pm'ed me only received my cnc on the piece.

< sticks tongue out @ GBlade > I freely admit I am a n00b, but I am ready & willing to help in any way I can.
If the "mass" has spoken, then I concede and withdraw my "application"

So much for keeping everything on the other topic lol.

If you guys are already going to discuss new GGT hosts how about y'all make a new topic so we can stop cluttering the technically already ended voting.

If anyone wants my two cents in this anyway, I suggest whoever wants to host next time should send their names to one person and he/she can post a topic where we can vote and discuss who should be the ones to host. My idea of a good host would be:

~Have extensive knowledge about what goes into making a graphic (probably so they know what they're hosting as well as understanding how much work us artists will generally put into it)
~Organized and able to coordinate with others should we have more than one host (duh)
~Open minded (willing to discuss ideas both from the public and from their cohosts)
~Creative (when creating themes for the rounds, course this isn't completely required should they decide to accept themes from the public)
~Good judgement (no one's perfect but the host(s) should be able to make decisions in certain situations and be able to back it up with reasons)

As I said. Just my idea. No need to agree with all of it but certain parts should still be considered.

My apologize, I've been without net the past few days. I'll be wrapping this up shortly and dispensing prize funds.

Remarks and closing thoughts

I think it would be a while before I would consider hosting this again. I'll be honest. It is very stressful. One of the biggest things is the complaints from voters who don't come back for other rounds because an artist has badgered them to change their vote. This isn't btw, a shot at Wes. This went on in a few different rounds where I got complaints from people.

Some suggestions for whomever hosts next, including for running the ggt auction:

for the auction:

*reserve at minimum the first 4 to 7 posts for posting the graphics. Stick with letters for one and numbers for the other (avatars/sigs) to help keep things sorted.

*if someone is a known 'non paying player' don't accept the bid.

*give more than one week for the donations to be changed textually - as it is, we still have pieces that haven't been sent to people.

Eventwise

If I were to host again:

1. Artists PMing voters about their votes before voting ends would be prohibited. *this was one of my biggest headaches about this - almost every round I heard from a voter who felt like they were being pressured by one of the artists who felt they were getting the short end of the stick score-wise.

2. Limit the number of entry spots. The first two rounds this time was definitely -way- too much.

3. Don't let people have a week to vote (I wish I hadn't lol)

4. Don't sub people in if artists fail to submit a piece their seat is forfeit. If it means someone gets a free pass for a round, so be it.

5. No stocks, entry void. No questions.

6. Definitely define 'troll voting' suggested: all 1's and 2's with the footnote that if a voter feels that those are legitimate scores they can pm the host to explain why.

_____________
- While PMing to discuss your piece is one thing, Trying to sway someone to change their vote is another. I was very disappointed that people felt it necessary in various rounds to contact voters and attempt to sway them to make changes to their ratings. I hadn't prohibited it, so there was nothing I could do about it really. I would have thought that people would be better sportsmen and women about this event though.

The only person who should have been making those contacts before voting was concluded is the host. I'm not singling out any one artist- this sort of thing happened in almost every single round.

Not that it is an excuse for how inactive I've been around here but as some of you know this has been a fairly oddball summer for me between outages for power, net, and having thought I had a clear plate right up until after we got started the being scheduled for a disability hearing over 100 miles away blargh I'm glad this is over. Hopefully things will be calmer soon - and if not, well, then maybe in the next few months I'll be moving *fingers crossed* and no more ghetto internet. DSL is not supposed to behave like dial-up from the early 90's.

Thanks dmr appreciate that *huggles* I've been chewing myself out about it to be honest. I'm not happy with how things were with me activity-wise so I can fully understand the frustrations others had with my 'lacking' activity. Like I mentioned in private to someone else about it. I think the hosting position is 'cursed' if you look at the track records associated with activity either during or afterwards.

This was a close race no matter how you slice it.

Congrats to all three of you.

1st place Grimmhawk
2nd place Wesleysdf
3rd place Athdenald

Tally

A. 187.5 - Grimmhawk
B. 161 Ath
C. 186 Wes

Remarks - the low votes that were questioned stand. They weren't 'troll' voting. If I had to throw those votes out in this round there would have been votes in several other rounds that were thrown out as well, which would potentially have changed who was in this round.

Congrats to everyone who participated & to our 3 TOP winners!
