I've hit walls in quests requiring relatively large levels in these skills 10/11.  Do you really expect people to spend hours, if not days, grinding out profession xp?

Instead of requiring fixed levels, it would be more enjoyable if, if you weren't at the appropriate skill level, you had some chance of success.  E.g. -10% per missing level, to a minimum of 10%.  As it is, I have no desire to click 100s/1000s of times lumberjacking/foraging.

Or you could ask for assistance from someone who does enjoy clicking 100s/1000s of times lumberjacking/foraging...

I was to lazy so i just asked people, when the games live this will become a small economy and encourage trade/interaction between players, those too lazy can buy off people who put in the time.

I also think encouraging players to train all their skills is a good thing.

My fear is that those who do put in the time will take what they gather to the apprentice trainers to gain experience faster rather than sell in the market...

Its more effort than its worth to say trade in 20 weeds and 20 limes to an apprentice trainer for 3 xp, when you can just pick one more weed for 5 xp.  All that window clicking makes the xp from apprentice trainers pointless.

I don't think you will ever have to worry if people will sell stuff or not, everyone likes money.

As for Gathering Skills ...

Foraging: I went from 1-10 foraging in about 8-10 hours I believe.

Mining: 1-10 mining is about 6-8 hours I believe.

Woodcutting is more of pain though ... since there isn't that many trees to cut. I would suggest a 20% increase in trees to cut.

Skinning can take some time but if you find a pig farm its not too bad.

Fishing is fairly easy to raise, but not as fast as prospecting.

Farming doesn't seem worth the time so I haven't tried it really. There is too many steps upon first looking at it.

Crystal Cutting - Not introduced yet

As for Crafting Skills ...

Alchemy: I went from 1-14 alchemy in only 3 hours (you can buy the mats for it).

Cooking can be done similar to Alchemy (but the time between cooks is longer). Plus, you need a fair amount of logs for the fires (unless your at a range).

Jewelry - Not Introduced yet

Armorsmithing - not too bad, but not really enjoyable either.

Weaponsmithing - Probably the hardest to raise since you need planks and bars to create weapons

Leatherworking - Takes more time than armorsmithing to raise but less than weaponsmithing.

Tailoring - Haven't tried this out really. What say others on the topic?

Conclusion:

1) Woodcutting needs a boost in locations.

2) Would be nice to see crystal cutting / jewelry put into action in the next big update.

3) Alchemy and cooking will be very easy to do if you keep all the materials in the shops, is that how its intended to be?

4) Wool is currently very slow at respawning, more sheep are needed / quicker respawning is needed

i did a small alchemy frenzy today

used major alchemy booster and within 2 hrs raised my alchemy from lvl 2 to alchemy lvl 25

needed like 20 gold to invest, but in final i earned more than 20 gold

when i was maxing out cooking skill (lvl 30) i was left with same gold i have started with

and it took much more time

i bet if you looked there are more trees than you think. i made i route round the fist beta and chopped about 6 trees on it, then this beta made a larger route which has about 15 trees. then there is the green isle with trees if you are high enough lvl. :)

I think all the professions currently available are fine how they are, maybe a few more nodes could be added but nothing needs to be changed to make professions or quests easiar to progress/level.

Farming is not that bad, but takes more time specially on planting and geting what you need to help. But if you get a large number of wool and take the time to get jutte, then making the coarse will give you a large increase in farming. As I said worst part that will take more time is to get like 500 jutte. If you get it and 250 wool make coarse, will give you like 5xp x 250= 1250 xp in farming. :D

I would greatly appreciate making trainers and their work stations available and easier to find in more areas. It's crazy that we have to spend more time looking for a forestry trainer then looking for a forestry workbench than it took to fill our packs with the logs in the first place. Mythos and Illaneska and the Greenleaf Isle are horrible for finding basic work stations and trainer/vendors nearby to use them. You will find a cooking station but no one around for butter or salt. You find an alchemy table nobody around to buy potion bottles. You find the forestry trainer and buy your ingredients than have to run around looking for the forestry station to cut them. The lovely scenario I am running into now it lucking out and finding a building full of trainers ready to give daily quests and trade you the ingredients and not one work station for any of them to cut, cook, mix, skin, etc. to turn in those quests. What is the purpose of having a trainer in the middle of the woods to give you the quests but having to stop and return to Eldevin to cut the timber to turn it in? Sorry but the higher the skills get the further out you need to go to gather and finding a trainer out near you gives you a ray of hope only to be stuck looking through every door trying to find a way to finish.

We hit walls when it came to the Huntreal Plateau quests requiring tuna. So we leveled for days to get them, but a super cool guy ran into us there and took a minute to fish it for us to finish the quest. Thanks PainZ you're awesome! The sad thing was we decided to get lvl 16 fishing anyway to prevent this from happening again only to run into 2 more quests a few days later requiring bass. :( We were level 23 and required level 24 fishing to advance. :o We also required lvl 24 foraging in one of them as well. I miss the days of auction houses.

Back in the day players were able to buy crafted items for a high price from vendors. These quests were written with the idea that players could either make the required item themselves or buy it. Now you can no longer buy crafted items from vendors these quests are a bit harsh. It's something we're hoping to phase out, because we can understand the frustration behind them.

Alternatively, an auction house may solve such issues, but only if other players are selling the items you require. Perhaps for now you could use the Market Place section of the forum to request the items from other players in exchange for either gold or other items.

I believe these quests are a good in the long run, and perhaps more should be added.  With an AH and larger player base they help get people buying and selling and create a guaranteed sale of a few items.

In the meantime this page from the wiki is extremely useful.  Complete through level 35 players can start looking for items in advance.  I usually carry tuna+ and sometimes other gathered items required for quests, no charge and no tipping.

Refining of materials shouldn't give any exp imo.

It's a gathering skill and the only exp should be given for gathering[i.e collecting]. but that's just what i think should be :P

Youre still collecting planks/bars etc?
It cant really be 0 tho. Doing something that gives nothing is boring,

I haven't played a crafting game yet that didn't take months to grind out profession skills.
