About Arena Tiers, my two cents...

I don't think that will a very good idea, maybe create only one more tier for players without any Arena Medal, i mean, that player with 100- wins can participate on any tournament, of any tier, but have a separated place only for him, with cheap prizes (maybe only gold prizes), to give them a flavor of real Arena.

I know, we already have the 'Novice' Arena, but, let's be fair, i've won my 45 moves on 2 days, and the tournaments are only lvl 100-. Maybe that new tier can be for gear from any lvl under 1000. To bring more people to that.

If we create a bunch of tiers, Arena will die.

As I said to Dulcharn, don't just say it will die, explain your reasoning. I've explained mine as to why I think tiers are a better system.

Tokens will just further reward the arena champions (more than 1000 victories) as I pointed out in the "tokens" thread -

I've just looked through 50 consecutive (non-move) tournament results.

In this small sample, there would be 13 seperate players with over 1K wins getting a "well, I didn't win, but I got 2nd place" reward (and multiple times, for some of those players)

Homer : Marge, don't discourage the boy. Weaseling out of things is important to learn. It's what separates us from the animals .. except the weasel.

Eddie Izzard : The National Rifle Association say that guns don't kill people, people do. But I think the gun helps, you know ? I think it helps. I think just standing there going "BANG" - that's not going to kill too many people, is it ?

I don't mean to sound pessimistic, but it seems that everything I eat lately turns to poo ...

I've explained my reasoning plenty of times, Pardoux.

Participate in the arena, before you throw suggestions out there to change it.

No, you haven't - you've just said Shin's idea is a great one and that mine will kill the arena. Shins idea just increases the reward system in the arena by giving first AND second place a reward.

As for your second sentence, I have competed and have a medal to show for it. It's not as shiny as yours, but that's not the point. I didn't, however, realise that because I don't have the Crystal or Ruby medal that makes my opinion less than yours ..

I have plenty of times explained myself.

The token system will bring incentive to play. You might actually participate again as opposed to hanging out in the forum.

Not quite sure why you're being as "patronising" as you are being  ...

Participate in the arena, before you throw suggestions out there to change it.

And on your journey there, you might bump into good ideas, in stead of your 'easy win button' tier idea.

Let's keep it civil, shall we ?

Gonna get back into the Arena and I notice that it is extremely slow with a lot of items sitting there until entry price is very low. Also notice that there is a lot of luck in the time a person join an arena.

Im sure this has been mentioned before, but what I'm suggesting is an extra arena where everyone fight everyone else and a standing is generated from the results. The top 2 then fight two or three(if first battle was a tie) more battles and whoever ends up with more wins head to head wins the arena.

Or

The top half of each arena face off in another battle royale until a top 2 is generated and the same applied as above.

Tie-breakers

If 2 people are tied with one another whoever won the h2h battle get the higher spot. If 3 people are tied then the individual standing between the tied people are looked at and the standing is drawn from there. If everyone is at 1-1, then 10% off the highest stat and then the three of them fight against each other again. Similar for 4,5,6 way ties.

Alternately, allow people to choose 2 or 3 sets of combat moves and switch to an alternate set and run the battle again to get the standing.

What this idea means is that there will be no need for the maximum number of people to join before an arena can start, it just need a time limit(24 hr? random?) which will start the arena if there are people. The decaying join rate would still apply if there is 0 or 1 people in the touney. This would be especially useful for the moves arena as most people already have the first set of moves, but the newer (relatively) sets dont spawn enough.

If the token thing that is in another thread, here is implemented then it would clearly define a top 3 or 4 to give the tokens.

Thoughts?

Look, it is simple, you want to move the Arena tournaments along, then put a time limit on it similar to how the AH is set up.  Every entry "fee" is a "bid".  The fees can still deteriorate over time, but there is a time limit.

You have a tournament based on the number of players who have signed up -- in groups of 4.  It would be "first in, best chance to participate".

Let's say you have a 8 player tournament set up, but time runs out and only 7 have signed up for the tournament. The first 4 to sign up are in, the remaining players are dropped and fees refunded -- just like losing a bid on the AH -- and the first 4 battle for the prize.  Extending the example, let's say you have a 16 player tournament, and only 13 sign up before time runs out, the first 8 to sign up are in, the remaining players are dropped and fees refunded.

To add to the above, you could possibly encourage players in 6 and 10 player tounments, where the the first two to sign up get a first round "bye".

Finally, let's have some new items introduced as well.  Maybe randomly generated items, etc.

There, and that, is what I think would accelerate the Arenas along.

The better way to do bring more activity for Arena is the Shindrak's idea about the tokens. The only thing what need to be discussed is about the prizes, i don't think potions will be a good idea, we already have Composing, so, we need to think on something to exchenge for Arena Tokens.

they would probably have an arena store where you can choose items available in current rotation

Pardoux, as of any other part of the game, you can fight against pleople better than you, I don't think 'the best need to fight against the best only' is a good idea, any tournamente on the higher tier with 8 people will take forever to start, and they'll left arena.

I'm playing arena latelly, and i can say i'm winning 70% of the time, no kidding...yesterday i take 3 on a row, 250K, DBL1000 and Enchant Boots 50, not bad at all, and fighted against pro arenas players, with 2,5K+ wins...

It's good you face pro players against, it's like you say: "FFS, (old) TTF, TED, etc, can't hit this titan', it's not right, people who take a long time to research and try the arena should be able to play every aspect of that.
