Hello everyone,

I like to play as a melee character.  I am currently trying to figure out wich professions I'd like to focus on before having to backtrack only to gather the materials needed to lvl both gathering and crafting professions.

--FOOD--

At lvl 13, I am starting to have to heal after a couple of mobs, or if I pull 2 or more each fight.  As I have experienced all the professions, I know that the gathering and processing of materials can take quite some time, so I would like to have some feedback from higher lvl players on wich professions that I should stick to considering food.

Cooking is nice because it give buffs.  But I either need Farming/Fishing or Farming/Skinning to gather the materials for the various recipes.  Farming also requires a farm, so I canno't gather while questing.

Alchemy is nice because I can heal during batlles (wich can be a life saver).  This means less downtime, and I only seem to need Foraging.  I get no buffs from food, but the gathered food heals a lot more than the cooked one (at least at my lvl if I compare Red Apples to let's say, Trout).

--GEAR--

I currently only lvl Armorsmithing but I wonder if it would be better just to lvl Weaponsmithing (or just foregoing both of them) .  While the gear is good, lvling the professions takes a lot of time, and by the time I get to the required lvl for a certain item, I have better gear from quest or dungeon relics.

Thanks in advance for your tips and tricks!

My character's name is Bestandan if you want to talk in-game.

I've been playing a Templar build and I've found Alchemy to be indispensable, and the crafted potions are superior to those you can buy from NPC vendors. As for Cooking, you can currently buy food with the same buffs from NPC vendors. Don't know if it will remain that way upon release.

I got high enough in Armorsmithing last night to craft the special Mercenary set of armor. Which is an improvement from what I was wearing. Haven't seen any  heavy armor drops around level 35 yet, although I do have some level 36 gear that I'll be able to use when the level cap is increased again. In the live game, where I could level unimpeded up to 50, I probably wouldn't take up smithing at all as the gear from drops would do just fine and the time I spent crafting could be time I was out adventuring.

Thank you, that was my main concern.  I think I will make sure to keep foraging and alchemy up while adventuring and lvl other professions when I feel like it.
