its using up to 78% cpu sometimes in the 80s

Husband bought me a new notebook this evening as earlier in the day my other one finally bit the dust.

here are the specs of the new one

amd e-300 accelerated processor
4gb system memory
320gb hard drive
4096mb ddr3 sdram

Is any of this causing so much cpu to be used??

ps i just play games when it comes to specs I know nothing lol

Actually sounds about right, my system uses around 60%, with spikes around 70%.  Currently the game is run solely on the CPU and without any GPU. In any case my CPU is an Fx-4100.

Fx-4100 3.6ghz

8gb ddr3

Gtx 560ti 1.2gb-----Not utilized by game yet.

~I looked up your processor, seems to be a dual core 1.3ghz, Its actually really good that its not maxing out. You could try going into the game settings and limit the fps to 30, if you haven't already. It shouldn't slow the game down to much, and it might help lower the cpu consumption.

so what you are saying is that the cpu is on the high side for this game? Never paid attention to the cpu on my old laptop so cant really compare it

yes Veronique, this cpu usage is high. it's using 33% on mine when running the game, which is high. i play a game called skyrim which use's about 30% cpu when playing, but that does use the graphics card aswell.

Depends on what you mean by high side, yes it's using a lot of cpu, but its right on the mark for the cpu you have. I wouldn't worry about it, as long as its not hitting 100%. Sadly this might make it hard to multi-task. But it shouldn't damage the system as long as you don't let it get so hot it shuts off.

I've got an old 1.8 ghz...and I'm using 85-90% at all times.  If I run anything else at the same time, havoc ensues lol.

Currently the game doesn't use hardware such as a GFX card, this is something we would love to do in the future. The high CPU usage seems normal, I wouldn't be alarmed by it.

Lowering the max FPS will cut down on the usage if you'd like.

I actually lowered my FPS from 30 to 20 and my CPU usage went from 85-90% down to 80-85%.  I have found that I crash a lot less often when loading Eldevin East and West zones now.

Hmm I haven't had any issues with frame-rate, only when it internally laggs. I play at 60FPS and it runs fine.

Is there a point of time when GFX usage will be implemented?

Will it be before Beta ends.. before Release?

And when will be end of (open) beta btw.. ?

Tried the game on my brothers PC today.. only amd dualcore cpu (without hypertread).. and higher resolutions are laggy ;(

Not good if you want to convince ppl to play

Oh yeah.. on my i5 Acer Lappy (which is more an i3 - curse intel for mobiles wrong naming in third "core-i" generation) it just runs fine with HD4000 onboard

From my View..

this game NEEDS something around   "core 2 quad"/"Core i3" to play smooth HD/FullHD atm

As far as I'm aware GPU acceleration is planned and would help a great deal - we'll just have to be patient. Squishing the bugs and releasing the game is the priority here :). I highly doubt a desktop client based on anything other than Java will be released (as the game is written in Java).

Tip: If you want to get the game full screen, make sure you have it set to "Full Screen" in game and then click on the blue Hunted Cow bar (not the logo or links) and hit F11 on you keyboard. This method works best in Chrome/Chromium or Firefox.

I for one love the fact it's written in Java (to some degree) just because Windows, Mac and even Linux users can play Eldevin. I'm considering the jump to a Linux distro and love knowing I can play Eldevin just as I can on Windows.

Re: Running in Linux.   It can be done, and I have done it (my machine is dual-boot Vista/Ubuntu 12.04), but:

1. You must install Sun/Oracle Java, won't work in Open JDK.

2. You should use Chromium instead of Firefox, for slightly better performance.

3. Even so, performance will still be an issue; it helps to keep as few in-game pop-up windows (Inventory, Bags, Bank, Talents, Professions, etc.) as possible open at one time.

I tend to use it mainly for resourcing and in-town tasks, and boot Windows to play more seriously.

Not sure what the reason for the difference is, since it's the same machine - probably something to do with having X in the software stack.  I *am* using the binary Nvidia drivers, but not the experimental ones that Linux Steam requires - they caused display gliches in normal use.

I haven't tried the lower FPS setting tweak mentioned by Mojawk above, if I do, I will report on it.

Strange, I've had nothing but a great experience using Firefox or Chromium on both Ubuntu 13.04 and Elementary OS. I installed Java 7 and away I went.

Again, it might be computer specs so I'm not seeing a difference?
