Well...

It surely sounds a bit wierd...

But as a noobish noob why cant i give it a try.

The general idea is that one always gets some useless stuff like general loot or some low lvl mats - people usuallly just do not pick that junk up coz it costs a few silvers when one sells half of inventory filled with it.

A "fortune guy" - vendor could accept that junk giving armor, gems, jewelry, potions instead with some really low chance. The more junk one brings the more the chance of getting smth worthy.

There are tonns of general loot. One type could increace armor chance, ther type boosts weapons roll...

Or let it be most simple - player must fill 5x5 "fortune window" with general loot to make a roll.

There are already droptables, so attaching them to "fortune guy" shouldnt be hard.

This perhaps will enchance some 'junk' trade, letting low lvl players earn some extra cash.

Your idea has a lot of creativity, but I have had my share of MMO's that have gambling mechanics and it is absolutely awful. What you end up with is a bunch of players buying low leveled drops just to gamble with. In addition, it ruins the entire game play experience. Those low level drops are absolute gold to lower leveled players. What they need to do is add a wide variety of good/average drops to all leveled npcs. They need to be dropping materials like planks/bars/ores/ect... not just super crazy rare weapons and the rest of the time a level 1 alchemy potion. The PVM economy needs to be filled in dramatically for the economy to start thriving. Otherwise, the game will require zero player interaction aside from the occasional dungeon raid.

Like if you agree.

Like there is really MASSIVE kok3 game, mostly based on lottery, market, bonds, deposits, fortune rolls, currency exchange... and you know... economy is perfect ;)

Perhaps the issue you described much due to some DEVs have their hands growing outta their asses :D

Well not so much, I rather meant that a game that lets you achieve wealth and advancement in the game through pure luck unfair. PvM drops are random, but that isn't the same as gambling. Picture working days and days on an account through legitimate means. Everything that you earn on that account is because of your hard work, skill and dedication to the game and your character. The players who aren't as high as you don't have the same achievement because they lack the hours you put into your character. Now picture having a character who has lots of gold through gambling and has used it to buy better gear and raise his or her stats. A perfect example of how gambling unbalances a game and why a majority of the community would be against it. It removes most of the hard work, skill and dedication that MMORPGs and their achievements are built upon.

If you add gambling, then I think you need to add another level.  You gamble your mundanes away for a CHANCE at an item.  If you collect a group of say 9 other unique items from gambling rewards, you can turn those in for a guaranteed, but random, reward.  Of course as you're gambling your mundanes away, you could collect the same unique item over and over.  It may take a long time to get those 9 different unique items.

Nah, man... that would surely turn to "everybodyhuntsforthatshinypieceofvaluablecrap" enchancing the issues WhyDoyoutry described earlier.

It should be unpredictable random only IMHO.

The only way to realize you idea is to make these intermediate items untradeable, so there is no value disbalance between low and high lvls... but once untradeable - people will moan to make em tradeable :D there are some long term risks.

The simplest way is to fill 5x5 box with your junk and to test really randomous fortune.

No, actually what I'm saying is that it is truly random and unpredictable.  If you end up with 100 of the same random item, why not trade it away to someone else that may need it?  The intermediate items should be fully tradeable.  If I can get 1 of 9 items over and over, why not trade it to someone else who can get 2 of 9 items over and over?  If you want to add a lottery...there needs to be at least 2 levels of randomness, or else it becomes too easy to cheat the system.  I've played games before with this type of game mechanic, and it has NEVER worked unless there were 2 levels of randomness.

Me not be smart this evening :D

I still cant get how are you to cheat on 5x5 box giving away your lvl gears\pots\nothing.

You wont buy much junk from low lvls coz they are to roll themselves.

Or if junks LVL is to define the rolled gear LVL you have to farm it yourself or trade with same lvl players, keeping interlevel values balance on.

PS

perhaps you got the general idea wrong guys, - its mostly non-profit with a really low chance to turn your junk into smth worthy.

I get what you're saying, :) but I think if you want to turn a bank load of crap into something, then you should just sell it to the store for cash.
