EDIT: Please, stop telling me its not a waste of time, I understand from the other point of view now and will just continue to play for suggestions and bug finding.

I wouldn't say it's a waste of time. Any bugs you find while playing the game helps us make the smoothest experience possible when the game opens up. We've also had plenty of suggestions and opinions from the community that we've acted upon that we may never have come up with without their input.

That being said, no you won't get to carry characters over after launch. There will be a character reset. :)

Saying it was a waste of time was a bit harsh, but I just don't see the point of playing right now if it will all reset soon enough...on the other hand, im addicted to it and may never stop playing it!

Also, Any news on general release date?

Thanks -PoloDef

@PoloDef when this game goes public you have the advantage over new player's as you know what is going to happen before hand, so I don't believe the beta testing is a waste of time. Plus there has been alot of feed-back from testers and there has been alot of improvements. ;)

As far as I'm aware we're still looking to November. That's definitely not set in stone though, we'll most likely know more as we approach the end of October and possibly as we enter November. We're still working hard on features and content right up to the wire. :)

I suppose I see your point of how unfair it would be, i guess ill keep playing just to spot bugs and issues or make suggestions

Of course our characters aren't going to be transferred over. They might make a separate beta server where your current character will stay and you may test other tbc content.

But it's most certainly not a waste of time, the point of a beta is to find the bugs, find out what the customers don't like, find out every way possible that they can improve the game! The point in playing the beta is making the game better for you. It helps them find out which computer specs should be recommended, and what they need to make harder and easier, and just make the game better overall.

Not the mention the fact you will be ahead in the knowledge section and know the best places to farm your gear/mats, you will know the fastest ways to level and you will know all the backdoors around the place.

Another reason to play the beta.

Why not just play to have fun?  I'm really loving this game, and have no problem knowing I'll have to do it again.  I'm actually looking forward to see how it plays for real, from the start, without the beta advantages.

You'll also know what skills work the best for you without having to spend a ton of points resetting or trashing and starting over. Play with the skills/resets while you can.

The reason to play the beta is to help HCS develop the game to make it the best product that it can be before it goes live.  Having fun whilst playing it is a bonus, but every one of us here signed up to test the product on their behalf and report back what we found.  I know I have said this before but, this is not normally the type of game I would play, I came in, like all of you, to carry out testing.  Yes I have enjoyed the game and have 'met' some great people and have been able, in some small way to help the company refine their product but I probably wont continue with it after testing is over.

So yes, there are reasons still to play/test mainly to help iron out the bugs so when the game goes live you will have a better product in front of you.  What I do find hard to take is the people who come on here and moan because the game does not suit their style of play and want x, y & z changed to suit them, it makes me wonder if they have any comprehension of the tens of thousands of manhours it has taken to get this far!

So keep testing/playing and enjoy it for what it is and keep the HCS folks informed of any issues you come across
