Ever since the major update a week or so ago, I have been unable to log on using firefox. I have tried on two separate computers (toshiba running Windows XP, and a Macbook running mavericks). In both cases, java doesn't even start. I get the supporters pack splash screen but nothing else.

I have tried clearing caches (java and browser). Indeed, I have even tried reinstalling both java (7u45) and firefox (25), but to no avail. On both computers the test on the Java website indicates I have the latest Java and it is working properly. I have also tried disabling NoScript.

I have a ticket in, but not surprisingly, the Cows have been otherwise occupied over the last week. So I thought I might try the forum to see if anyone else can shed some wisdom. The fact that it happens with both windows and Mac makes me think I must have some odd configuration somewhere.

For completeness, Java starts on the Mac when I access Elvedin through safari, but gets stuck at the first loading process (Java cache suffers a security exception as posted by others on the Elvedin forum). I can play the game using Chrome with Windows.

Hey there,

Might I recommend switching browsers completely to see if it will work? I use Chrome, and it seems to go just fine, as should IE according to other posts. Not sure about Safari and the rest.

Hopefully this helps, no idea what else it could be since I don't have these problems.

if you are using Firefox version 25 or above please allow mixed content by clicking the shield on the left of the address bar. You will have to do this every time unfortunately. We are looking at ways we can fix this in the future.

Thanks LT - I had missed that shield, and it makes all the difference. Firefox is now working as it should (which means it fine under windows, and now gets as far as finding the known mac/java issues on the macbook).

I just switched to Chrome and the game boots up a lot faster. If nothing else, I can use it for this game, if it remains stable.

It would be good if they somehow register with Mozilla that their content is not malicious. I believe that Firefox is the most popular browser at the moment, and this might get in the way of acquiring new players.

Or remove its silly blocker. Prior to the update of firefox, I could run eldevin with no problems. Either way I agree.

There is a Mozilla bug open to add a whitelist to this 'feature'.  In the meantime, you can disable the block.

Go to URL 'about:config', search for 'security.mixed_content.block_active_content', and set this to false.  FF still makes the check, but Instead of the shield you get the unlocked icon as a silent warning.  Warning:  This changes the behavior on all sites, so use with caution.  If going to a secure site remember to look at the icon.
