The game runs (on open areas) at around 10 FPS, and gets playable in instances and small areas.

I can run games like League of Legends at steady 40 FPS and I won't believe this game needs more resources than LoL.

What can I do to improve my FPS? I want to play with a clean framerate and I know my computer can handle it. (or the game is poorly optimized)

Oh and I remember playing about a month or two ago and the game ran considerably better.

Howdy :)

Eldevin uses a software renderer in the browser at the moment, which means all the effort is on your computers CPU. To improve performance the best option is to run the game at a lower resolution ( that is, not in full screen mode ).

Making sure no other programs are running while you're playing will also improve performance.

What operating system are you running the game on? We have noticed differences in performance on Windows, Mac and Linux. There have also been some versions of Java which have had significantly lower performance, so making sure Java is updated is important.

In the future we plan to write a hardware renderer for the game, which will shift some weight off the CPU and onto your machines graphics card, which will hopefully make the game run considerably better on all platforms.

Hope this helps :)

That didn't help in the sense that I wanted it to, but I'm glad that you guys are working on a system like that.

I hope you've been making good progress and please be quick about it, because I can't walk around the main city without playing at ~10FPS.

I have noticed that having your camera angle at the horizon gives the lowest frame rate, and using an overhead camera reduces the graphic lag. So, if there are a lot of trees about, I recommend setting your camera to overhead until they are out of the frame.
