It's kinda interesting Lagenia. But also confusing.

If i only see avarage price in market without actually selling item from player, how should i know if its even there ?. Let's say i want to buy Stamina Potions lvl 32. I search them in market, it displays me the avarage price of 10s per 1 potion. Ok i want to buy them. And now comes the problem.

First: Because i searchd for avarage pice of and item not actuall stock in market, i may wanna buy what is not even there.

Second: The avarage price doesn't show actuall priceses people are selling now. What if i offer 15s per 1 potion but the highest price will be 10s? It pop up a message that there is no potion for that price, and i have to guess prices like a riddle ? Or i will magically buy for lower price ?

Third: If 10 poeple are selling those potions for same price (10s per 1) how the system will choose who is the one that will sell them if buyer offer that 10s per 1? And why that person not other? What if the system will choose to sell always from same seller?

Ps. I suspect you take that idea from Runscape?, cuz of your post in different section. Well i played Runnscape but not too long and i am not familiar to its trading system, but if its working well then my concerns above should vanish quickly. If it comes to generall AH, i sow some variations of them, but all ended same thing when prices were dropping driasticly. Your idea is a lot better than a common AH i will give you that. That beeing said i still love player shops the most.

Hmm i explained this questions, but perhaps it wasnt clear enough :P

first: if you place an offer that is not in the market, it gets listed in the market as buy offer and as soon as someone sells it for the price you get a message (in chat or whatever) that there are items in your market to take

second: i mentioned if someone offers more than what a item is on the market you get the item + the difference to the item ... so in your case you would get the potion + 5 s coins back

third: The offers get queued in a list, so if there is the same offer for a product it is a first come, first server princip. So if 10 people sell for 10s / potion, the one that offered it first, gets the money first, as he is waiting the longest amount of time

ive played games without auction houses and the world chat if full of players trying to sell stuff and shops take a lot of room there is nothing wrong with fallensword type auction lists the name and you can haggle with the owner to drop the price or trade for another item shops are a large mess

p.s. lets keep the  prices for stuff points and gold a player controlled thing no set prices

I give +1 to Lagenia type of AH. If there should be any, it should be like that one.

And thanks Lagenia for large explanation, took a while, appreciate it ;)

No auction house. Retainers instead with limited selling space. Or A certain amount of items based off inventory squares used can be placed in the auction house/retainers to reduce the chances of having to much supply and very little demand.

Can't agree about the room issue.. Eldevin has loads of empty land.. That could be very easy to use.....

As for now, Eldevin has at most 80 people in EU, US is about 130 this is not many. You guys are worrying about player shops that will clutter up space ? It it so ridiculous. Eldevin City is really big and has a lot of space considering even all of us (100 players) open their shops. At this point it will not bother anyone having shops without any restrictions because the space is simply too large for the amount of people playing the game. Later on when more people will play HC could only restrict shops to specific area and that solve your "clutter up" problem.

there should be a lost and found bucket for items that we can donate for others to re use

Well, I voted for auction house (with possibility of shops). I prefer convenience to immersion in this case. Going through even 10 shops in search of an item or a deal is simply too much of a bother for me. I do not want to go from store to store, click on it, check the offers, click again to close it and then repeat the same with every store and for every item I'm interested in.

Also, whoever is worried that auction house is detrimental to economy/ market sounds to me like they don't know what a functioning market is. Because one of the most important parts of a proper free market is information about the supply and demand, regarding the amounts and the prices. And in this sense an auction house with its listings is providing a far better information about the state of the market and economy while prices going up and down are a key function of the market. Certainly, anomalies are possible and do happen, but those aren't solved by fragmentation and lack of information.

i'm in favor of auction houses, but different auction houses for different regions. No centralized auction house.

I don't know if I want an AH or shops, but what I do want is a window that I can access whereever I am and see and/or search for all items that are on sale. I like the system in the game Illyriad, where you can place both sell orders and buy orders on the market, so it's also visible what people want to buy and what price they're willing to pay.

And maybe there could be some paid methods to make selling or buying more convenient for the player, for example hiring an imp to manage your buys and sells when you're offline and having some inventory space on it or being able to use your bank stash to manage the items and storage space.

In any case, having to run around the map to view information from individual player shops is just not an option.
