Hmm you start with the swear filter on I remember, and there is a swear filter for that reason. Not sure about the official stance on this though.

That maybe so but I believe it's there,as in most MMO's, as a safety net if you will(for parents who allow their kids to play) until it can be resolved.

GM's usually can't respond fast enough to issues like this so they put the filter in so you can still continue to play UNTIL they resolve it. Not to allow it to continue.

Now, with that said, I'd like to also see HC's official stance on this.

Getting irritated in chat is one thing but people swearing at each other is another.  The other night there was an argument that ended up with the two parties swearing at each other.  I would like to think the community can handle this and tell the parties to cool off.   I always dislike GMs coming in and dictating behavior.  Let's let the community handle it.

Swearing is a part of my culture.  Ask yourself, are you really offended by some words? do they really ruin your enjoyment of the game?  When does your moral crusade start impacting on other peoples gameplay in a negative way?

No one is stopping you from using the ignore feature of the game, please don't try and change the game to suit your christian or what ever beliefs.

depends on reference and situation.. smashing a player with negative terms shouldn't be in a game that is open for all ages (them being 'curse' words or just derogatory)

I don't mind swearing if its in context or fairly said to prove a point, however, if every word you say is illicit then you should just stop.Even with the filter on/off its very annoying to see swearing or ***** every line.

Note: I don't use filter but its already on for all players, you can access it in the menu>options>game options

That maybe so, but it doesn't make it any more acceptable, if anyone swore at me in RL they would certainly know about it, what happens in any culture if they swear at Police or their parents? there is no need to swear in game chat, in RL sometimes people get frustrated or angry at something or someone and they swear, ok, but in chat they have time to thing about what they are doing, and to me , needless swearing can can only mean they aren't educated enough to use proper English words, condoning it makes you just as bad as the childlike players that do it.

I would be extremely disappointed if we were not able to swear in this game. There is a filter for a reason.

My grandmother once said, "Big men use quiet words, Little men use loud words". Catch her meaning?

Swearing, even starred out, is not acceptable on the forums. Cheers!

Really? THIS would make you "extremely disappointed"? Turn away from your laptop, and swear away.  Return to laptop and play like a mature player.

Let's stay civilized here man, come on were all friends! We all play Eldevin here, that's a good thing  :D .  I just feel that since the language filter is on as a default, an option to turn it off is a very good idea! I may have over exaggerated that I'd be extremely disappointed, but either way it's a good feature.

While there is a swearing filter in-game, there is not one in the forum. Moderate your posting please as swearing on the forum is unacceptable. ~ Admin

I do wonder why there is no report button and just a free-for-all chat. From what I've seen in FS, leaving the Eldevin chat open like this is a bad idea. Some say use the filters if you don't want to see it; well, I think seeing a whole bunch of **** stuff is more distracting than the words. It's like watching TV where there is a lot of cussing censored, and every few seconds there is a loud BEEP! that interrupts.

Also, I wish we could have our actions/notifications separate from the chat. I don't wish to see the chat, and sometimes it fills up my actions/notifications thing.

Hey guys,

The swear filter, which is on by default, should strip out any profanities for people who don't want to see them. It's not perfect of course, and we're open to updating anything that we have missed from it.

If someone is deliberately and persistently getting around the filter and causing offence, please submit a ticket. Also if you are subject to abuse from another player submit a ticket and we will look into it.

We will look into an in-game report option for the future.

The problem isn't swearing, it's excessive swearing.

Everyone drops the occasional F bomb or whatever word you want. But don't make it a part of your daily internet speech. If you want to use it to add emphasis to your sentences, I'd say go ahead (but I'm not the authority), but you need to realize not everyone is okay with this and you might be offending someone for saying words you could easily replace or not say at all.

This is coming from someone who swears quite a lot. I know my place and I will rarely say any "bad words" because this is an all-ages environment, not a house party.
