Does this game support hybrid classes? I have been leveling as mage assassin at the moment but am unsureif I should continue doing so. I was hoping to use the melee dots and aoes while filling in the down time with incinerate and maybe one other spell, but my mana drains so fast. Mele attacks having casting time also make the transition much rougher and the dps doesn't seem to be all that great for all the time spent trying to redot. In fact at best I would say it breaks about even or under a pure in killing speed. I am only about to hit level 11 so I think I still have time to get my free reset before 15.

Is the only point of multiclassing into other trees to grab a few of the top tier benefits like assassins getting more haste from hunters or warriors getting more blood bath damage/ heavy armor reduction?

There hasn't been enough time to test every possible outcome for hybrid classes, but yes they do work and of course some work better than others.

You can use this talent calculator to try out different combinations, but to actually see if they're effective would require you to try them out in-game

http://talenttheory.com/calc/

It would seem that it's probably more effective to try out hybrid builds late-game, there are some talents you'll need to deal enough damage and have enough survive-ability as you level, and if you have tons of talents in every tree you may become overwhelmed.

I tried ranger mage for a while. can't say anything about it thought since I was low level. I will most likley try a hybrid again after 20's or 30's.

There are lot of hybrids that can be made -(but go hybrid after lvl 30 so that you are well built in one class)

1>Mage healer - main is healer +mage haste and damage .

2>assasin tank - for more damage

3>warrior tank - armor + dmg (sdcrichy - he uses an essence to for healing)

4>ranger tank - ranged attacks if hes far , tremor or vindicate if he s near, gives armor too .

I think to truly play a hybrid you'll require level 50 for the extra 10 points. Currently at 40 it looks like it's favouring a "pure" build as the end talents are very strong across the board. However Neon is 100% correct that there's far more testing to be done. I will say however i've had some success dipping my toes into other specs (main assassin taking dodge from warrior) but then I would say this is hybrid and more left over point allocation.

From a talent stand point there is some very nice talents higher up the trees which heavily favours going pure. But for attribute distribution there is plenty of room for hybrids. At the moment i spec :

full templar talents

3 vitality per level

2 melee per level

1 sorcery per level

I then use a essence for bonus healing and play it like a paladin archtype. Its been very effective so far.

combining bloodbath talents from all three melee classes can be very powerful

The thing about hybrids is you have to be extremely careful how you plan them out otherwise you're going to find yourself in a world of hurt.

The best thing to do is first sort out what/how you want to play then build your base. Once thats done have a look at the other trees and branch out on things that would benefit your base build.

We did have one extremely talented guy during beta that had quite a few different hybrids figured out.  Unfortunately, he rubbed a lot of people the wrong way so I don't think he's with us any more.  But yes, hybrids do work well, if you plan it out beforehand and know what you're going to get.  Now that we don't have free resets anymore, it makes it pretty difficult to plan that.

Would you like some cheese with your whine?

yes, for 1st char i would recommedt to go pure class. if you learn game mechanics, you will know then how to combine talents on other chars.

Interesting.

I've been going 3 vit per level / 3 melee per level THEN 6 vit per level, repeat. going for super tanky tank

Getting back to the OP, Hybrids are a good idea if you played beta and got to know a class VERY WELL. Then you can look at other classes and see how other talents would compliment what you have already.
