Hello there. This is my first post here. I am liking Eldevin so far :)

Before I continue I want to apologize for my bad English. It is not my native language.

As the title suggests I am not really sure the ranger talent Marksman really works.

As we know Ranged increases Ranged Attack Power (RAP), which combined with the weapon DPS equals to the final DPS shown in the character screen.

I will use my lvl18 ranger for actual numbers.

3/3 Marksman (+15% RAP)

162 Ranged

2980 RAP shown in green and when I mouse over it, it shows (2592+388) increases your ranged dps by 234,9. I assume 2592 is the base power and 388 is the bonus 15% from the talent.

The DPS shown is 366,1 and the weapon DPS is 131,2.

So I went and created new character to see how Ranged increases RAP and I found out that 1 point Ranged = 16 points RAP. I was also looking at the damage increase and noticed it is increased by 1.45 DPS points per 1 point of Ranged.

I went back to my main char to calculate my base RAP 2592 / 16 = 162 and yeah it is correct Ranged as shown in the character screen.

Then I did the dps calculation 162 * 1,45 = 234,9 again correct as shown when mouse over.

And I have 234,9 DPS from RAP + 131,2 DPS from the weapon = 366,1 – the exact number showed to me as a final DPS on the character screen.

Ok so far so good, but those calculations are for the base ranged power 2592 and not the actual 2980. The number 388 which is the bonus from the talent is not included in to the final DPS.

So either the talent does not work, or there is a bug in the UI – not showing the real DPS.

Or maybe I am missing something?

There is no problem with Marksman as a talent (I double checked it first just to be certain).

You may already have figured this out but the problem is actually in your maths and it took me a moment to figure out what you were doing wrong.

What you have missed is that the RangedDPS from the Ranged attribute is actually a two step process:

baseRAP = RangedToAttackPower(Ranged)

RangedDPS = RapToDPS(baseRAP + bonusRAP)

The character RangedDPS (234.9) in this case is a function of baseRAP (2592) and bonusRAP (388).

Attempting to connect RangedDPS back to the Ranged Attribute in the way you got 1.45 ignores the fact the 388 bonusRAP has already been applied to the RangedDPS.

Then I did the dps calculation 162 * 1,45 = 234,9 again correct as shown when mouse over.

So to get the actual numbers this calculation needs an initial step to eliminate the bonusRAP in the damage per Ranged Point. You actually have all the numbers you need to do it:

1.45 * (2592 / (2592 + 388)) = ~1.26

Now that you have the real DPS per Ranged point 1.26. From here on your maths was actually fine giving the DPS given by your Ranged attribute at level 18:

162 * 1.26 = ~204.3

To test that this gives the expected result with the talent you can just multiply the dps by 1.15:

204.3 * 1.15 = ~234.9

I've rounded a few values for easier reading (hence the liberal use of ~) but hopefully this clears things up.
