With a fish vendor in town, is there really any reason to fish?

Sure it's nice to have free trout for the cooking daily, but it's not required to level any profession.  And if I want a stack or two of recipes requiring fish I can just buy them, while I concentrate on game aspects that earn more gold.

I'll grant that it's kind of relaxing, put on some music and cast away.  But like all gathering it's a long grind, except this one seems to have almost no return value.

I fish to lvl my cooking because I'm too cheap to buy fish.

I'm almost certain that, that fish shop should not be in the game and they left it in by accident.

Even so fishing does need to be looked at.

Leveled it to 10 for the extra dailies.  Beyond that, disappointed.

Fishing is low priority on my grind list, but it's there.  Getting it to the level where you can fish trout means there is one less thing to buy.  So far, money has been sort of tight, and I don't feel like buying gold.

The fish vendor needs to be removed and there needs to be more fishing spots especially noticably at the start location where there are usually more than 1 person trying to fish.

The geography of Othalo around the mage tower and ring lake was rearranged for launch, so that the flow of combat specializations (melee, ranged and spell) was clearer.   What was lost was a nice circular path visiting nearly all the fishing holes (except for the two near the farm, which you needed to take a side trip to visit), along with one of the fishing holes.   Was a great grind.

The ring lake could use at least one more on the inner side, say next to the obelisk, and maybe restore the old hole in the spit of water between the archery range and the resurrection point.

Putting some extra fishing holes in the ponds located in the forest in the back with the pigs and beetles would be nice also.

Removing potion vendors would serve no purpose other than to inconvenience new players. Since crafted potions are better than vendor potions of the same lvl the vendor potions have no impact on alchemy.

If there is to be another vendor removed along with the fish vendors it should be the meat vendor in the market as well.

True, potions are better than vendor potions but more players have supposedly started buying potions from the vendors because players are marking up the prices for the medium health potions+ too much.

(This is something that a few friends have told me)

Serves no purpose? It adds a price on potions which limits the amount of money we can charge for a potion that we work hard for to make, not only that if this game were to grow and a lot of money is circulated into this game why would anyone buy crafted potions if theirs some potions being sold by the vendor that is 100% cheaper, people rather get 2 - 1000hp medium potions then 1 crafted medium potion. Many people use potions for quests and adventuring so they can wait for the cool down of the potion de-buff.

A compromise.  As is done with food, the vendor can sell the lowest level potions so new players can get a start.  But higher level potions (medium and up?) must be purchased from other players.

I still don't get one thing.  Why is it OK for someone to level quickly (ignoring professions), spend a couple of hours running a dungeon, and then sell the gear for big gold.  But someone spends many times more hours to level a craft only to have people complain they charge too much.
