To the game team,

Good morning,

I am just writing this post because I have submitted a ticket about a player botting 3 days ago.

I have still not received any update.  Worse is 10 minutes ago, I see the same character botting again in another region.

So I am just using this other means so there is an 'answer/action' about this situation.

Thank you

Stephane Major

I believe this player has been caught and suspended, sometimes it just takes a while for our support staff to catch the bots :) but we do catch them all in the end!

These botters should be dealt with quickly, or else we will get more and more in the game.

We just can't ban people who bot blindly we have to investigate them first. After all people could just manipulate screenshots and try and get innocent people banned.

Like Mojawk said we will find them eventually.

This ^. While I watch movies and press tab/1/tab/1/tab/2 I have been reported and harassed by a player who accused me of "Botting". What some players fail to realize is that you are not obligated to reply to them in game :). Good job so far HCS. Im sure there will be a more efficient mode of hunting these guys down in the future.

Yes Lagenia, if you can not notice someone standing there throwing lethal concoctions at you for 5 minutes, it def needs to be something flashy to get your attention  :D

I do see now, how it can seem like someone is botting when they are not.

GM I don't envy your job deciding which is which  :P

No, no it isn't.

Using mouseclicks or a smaller window to perform repetitive tasks is not botting. Why? Because the entire theory behind botting is using automated processes or functions to perform events without user input. Aka, the user does not have to be present to bot and that is why it is detrimental to games: users can perform events for long periods of time without having to be present-- greatly increasing the potential advantage they have over other players.

Using mouseclicks and other functions that require constant user input is not botting. It is merely using another tool to perform the same actions as "normal" players. It is essentially moving and clicking the cursor without having a mouse, and having a mouse is not a prerequisite to this game.

To continue the topic-- This game has far too many vigilantes. When I'm mining, you wouldn't believe the number of players who come up to me and spam trade windows to check if I'm a bot or spam text at me to see if I reply. What they don't understand is, I'm under NO requirement to respond to them. Honestly, the actions they are performing is worse than botting itself. At least botting doesn't directly affect anyone. What they do is not only disruptive but abusive and annoying.

The point isn't that it is simple to respond to them, the point is I should not HAVE to respond to get people from harassing me. Whenever I'm leveling skills, I'm often busy working on projects or on another tasks and merely keep a windowed screen of the game open in another monitor. In no way, shape, or form should I be required to respond, no matter how miniscule a response, to someone badgering me due to them having some notion that I'm a "bot."

This is a very large problem in this game. I have not seen any other game in which there is such a large portion of vigilante players in respect to botting. Eldevin's population is not very large atm: topping out at around 200. However, this is still a ridiculously large amount of people who feel it is their prime duty to harass others. I have never seen anything like it.

Edit: I thought of a good analogy. The vigilantism about botting is like the TSA in America. They question you, pat you down, and stick a finger up your rectum in order to make sure you're not a threat. At least in the case of the TSA, there is a valid counterargument: national/public security.

This doesn't stop people from annoying the **** out of you. Whoever implemented the auto open trade window should be slapped. I've been traded >30 times by players thinking I'm a bot when I'm farming. I've lost so many crops because people force the trade window on me. I don't see why I'm forced to respond to other players just because the person believes I'm botting.

Hell, for the most part I'm in the world chat and I couldn't give 2 shits about the general area chat. Even if I did, one harvest of my plant and general chat is completely wiped. Saying "hi" to someone is not the solution

9 times out of 10 if I am mining I have the chat window closed.. Never had any one try to trade.. But maybe a good thing is if some one is doing that if Blocking the player stopped that also... Most games I play if you add some to your Ignore list that stops them... Bots are a hard thing to catch and most times never do get caught... But also calling Bot all the time is BS.... Better be 100% sure before you call Foul.. I think HCS needs to ban those that accuse wrongly...

Reported a suspected botter yesterday and GM's were very quick to respond to my ticket. Think it just depends on the situation and work load the HCS is under from day to day.

Yeah the staff are pretty onto it. Got questioned this morning by admin if I knew who was botting. Seemed like a nice guy who whispered me.

The topic at forums - Official Stance on Bots  is a joke

Today i sent ticket to HCs calleing my support.

This drives me nuts. It's one of the resasons I can't stand mining; I don't want to be targeted by maliciousness every 5 minutes of the entirety that I am on. That kind of attitude wears a player out and makes them not want to log on in the first place. The GMs need to monitor the mines themselves and not encourage players to annoy people gathering to test if they are botting constantly.

I pretty much just ignore all malicious gamers and mall cops. If a GM talks to me, I'll respond. However, I am tired of allowing players to harass anyone that mines under the misguided pretense of keeping the mines clean. I have no intention of talking to players to prove my innocense, when all I am doing is mining a node. If it was a once a day thing, I would say "no big deal." However, once every 5 minutes and I just want to scream.
