MMOs these days don't have much to seperate themselves from one another. Most are generic, cookie cutter MMOs. Now Eldevin turns a corner and breaks the common trend. The graphics are different, the gameplay is different, Eldevin brings something unique - and that's why this game has such potential.

PVP in MMOs are typically just in battleground/arena from (what eldevin currently has) But history shows, this is a [rubbish] form of pvp. Throwing monkeys into a cage to duke it out to the death - or over a single objective - is not fun pvp. That is not the type of gameplay that will hook players.

Let's be honest - The PvP in this game is [rubbish]. Not because of a bad engine; but because of such a horrible PVP system. No one wants to queue the system is so bad. You get thrown up against level 40s, and get rocked. Or vice versa.

What do I think should be done..?

VARIETY

or

There has not been a good RVR game since DAOC. Hunted Cow needs to start considering making an open world pvp zone (runescape wilderness?) or have GvG or RvR battles.

The MMORPG community is tired of the cookie cutter battlegrounds. We want immersive pvp.

And If you aren't going to give us any real pvp; at least make the arena/BGs bearable.

Well you're half right. The pvp does need work. Yet the design/development/test time to improve it would be taken from: mail, auction house, guilds, client app, level cap raise; and host of other more requested by the players enhancements.

But an open world pvp system is not, in fact, what most mmorpg players want. No -- the questors don't want be always looking out for ambushes. The gatherer/crafters don't want to need to organize gangs for gathering (half gather, half guard). And for people who do want that, there is already a very superior concept game out there. It is the FPS. So I don't agree with your proposal.

I don't PVP and have no desire to PVP, that's the reason I don't queue and never will.  P'king (Player killing) isn't something I am interested in.   I already feel like I am continuing to 'beta' test this game while paying to play.  And, I agree with ChicagoStorm, opening the world to player killers and ambushes is not the way to go.

They did say that PVP aspect of the game is not their main goal, To them pvp is just a side part of the game, Not the main focus, Hence why they did not do any major works to pvp, or even improve it, They just simply added the element, Just so you can do some form of pvp.

PvP in many cases is killing good mood in the game. It should be disconected from main game. That's my opinion.

I like the idea of simple, opt-in open world PVP. Like -- dueling and reputation-based territories. But I digress there's some months to go before the game switches gear, greenlights and the few remaining mainstream features get added.

I'm enjoying playing what's here now =). Keybinds work great!

or go to the PvP Island.

I am happy with the PvE,dont need PKs like in old school Ultima Online

ask Origin, why they had to sepparate into pve, pvp? because the lots losses of RPG-ers

or why WOW was divided in pve-pvp-rpg servers

Does Open World PVP mean that the whole game is an open world area to get owned? No. I don't know why this is your assumption. That makes me laugh. Plenty of games have OPEN PVP ZONES. Do we get this? A ZONE A SPECIFIC ZONE. Where players can kill each other freely. The concept should be relatively simple, I'm confused as to what part of it is so difficult to grasp.

My initial post - was explaining how theres a HUGE MARKET OF MMO PLAYERS WHO WANT GOOD PVP. Check out any MMORPG website. I'm signed up to about 5. Now find in those forums where people are "looking for game" More than half of these people are specifically looking for a game with good pvp, or at least a strong pvp system is very important to them.

Most of the responses tell them to wait for ESO or Wildstar because theres not really any other good pvp systems out there.

Most of you here are obviously not so into pvp. But that doesn't suprise me. You're playing a game that doesn't favor pvp.... Of course it's not a big x factor for you. But a good pvp system would most likely bring in many new players.

Edit: Read this By ComradeLewis

I can't really take any MMO seriously, in the long term, that does not have a functional PvP system. It truly is the most time consuming aspect of end-game. Furthermore, all that is required in incentive and somewhat of an overall balance. Every game eventually has an end to PvE content. However, a well designed PvP system with rewards as well as challenges can extend the game by years alone, and wouldn't require nearly the same time sink as creating new material.

Also, just because they never intended for it to be a major aspect of the game is not a reason not to work on it. The fan base that pays the bills should determine what they want prioritized. Furthermore, how much effort does it really take to finish something that's already started and only needs a few tweaks to function well?

All of those that oppose prioritizing PvP are players that are not interested in it and simply want more content faster. The game has had nothing but content updates since the release date. Isn't it time that they finish what they already started and give a bit of enjoyment to those of us that do enjoy a little PvP? It's extremely selfish to want 100% of content to apply to you and to demand that other people's interests get no attention at all.

We have a open world island for pvp . Its lvl 15 to enter .

Only thing that makes me play is pvp in this game . At 40 pvp is interesting . After they release 50 content they may give some more importance to pvp .

World pvp could be added very easily.

1) All players start with "Pvp mode" toggled off. If you don't want world pvp, you're fine.

2) Players are allowed to toggle the pvp mode to on while in a city. Once leaving the protective city they are protected for ten seconds from attack.

3) While outside of the city the player cannot toggle the mode off. If they log, the character will remain for 10 seconds (20 seconds?) to combat players leaving game to avoid death.

4) The victor (or team of victors) get 5% of the victim's gold.

This would be a fairly simple and easy way to enable world pvp. Another, equally valid option would be a pvp server with similar log protection. After the introduction of guilds world pvp could become very fun - for example, guilds could sign non-aggression pacts with eachother, etc.

This would destroy this game.

I think Zshmaendal has a good idea. Allow players who want to open world pvp - pvp - other players don't have to if they don't want to. I'm not saying this is the best idea; but not a bad idea.

There seems to be many simple fixes to increase the positive experience from PVP. The community is offering a lot of good ideas.

Lakota...I have a question. How do you know what's best for the PVP in this game if you aren't even a high enough level to engage in it? Let alone experience majority of what this game currently has to offer.

I may be incorrect on this, but this honestly seems like another one of those "I'm going to have a friend create an account on this game and create a thread to support my opinion" situations,to make it look like there is more support for a matter then there actually is. As said,I could be incorrect, but as it stands now..1 single exp of pvp isn't even entrance to a pvp match,so you haven't actually experienced the PVP in this game,to give enough info on the matter. Unless there is a 2nd account owned? Or watching videos?(which can be edited nicely to support ones own ideas.)
