Having a well-rounded game with plenty to offer is key here. PvP is something that a lot of players enjoy, and thus one could argue that it is, indeed, key.

Well for the player base I would not say PvP is Key... But each to their own.... Great if you are at level cap.. If not it is pure BS but then some like the BS I know plenty of people that don't care about PvP... I for one find PvP a total waste of time... Always have always will... As for Balance I don't see to many here agreeing that pushing PvP is Needed....

Biggest issues with this game as some one else posted is the Camera angle... That has been the number one complaint since beta and still is...

You're essentially saying that pvp is badly done right now so people don't like pvp - and thus it doesn't need more attention or work since people don't do it.

Many people when they looked at this games gameplay it reminded them alot about RS  and that Othalo looked alot like a lumbridge and once they give this game a shot into looking forward into playing they will notice that the PvP isn't exactly as thrilling as RS .I have a feeling that a good pvp system will attract many players.

I actually pvped last night for the first time and I must say it was fun lol and yes I played rs and didn't like their pvp because I was introduced to it by walking into the wildy on my first day and getting pked after that someone tried to lure me out there so I never pked there I watched videos and watched as some of my friends did it by standing  behind them I like the way this one is done there is no luring for your items yes it needs tweeking so that people don't have to beg in chat because other players like to not accept once they join the que and yes I died alot rofl

Lol that was a rite of passage in RS.

Anyways they really need to up the PvP there is no reason to get better and better equipment by grinding other endgame content if you cant use them in something Non-repetitive. Once you get all the best equipment, whats the point of logging on again other than maybe chatting with your friends and maybe help run lower level dungeons. Fighting world boss is nice and was fun for a while, but it gets repetitive quick. ToC is broken one way or another, and what gear can you get from there that you cant get from WB? ASV is promising i guess, but again once you get the fable items, there's no point in going back in there.

If there is PvP, then there is incentive to build sets and talents to try and beat other people, then a cycle will be established. Once a cycle is established, the player base will be stable and start to grow and then you can get more people to run dungeons.

You know whats some of the best selling games and most played in the past decades are? FPS games. You know why they are so popular? Multi-Player PvP. I don't even think that a lot of people even touch the campaign that they put on those games. People play those games because its a competition and the nature of human is to be competitive. That's what drive people to be innovative, and what drive them to spend money. PvP should be near the top of any roadmap that HCS may have, maybe even higher than camera angle.  IMO Any extra levels in the future should be release to spur on the PvP competition.

Anyways, just my 2 cent

^Pretty much sums some of it up on why PvP should be top priority.I see most of the lvl 40s logged off. Most of the ones I see are just skilling, people are getting all these gems , and special effect on weapons and stuff for who? The world bosses ? Please all you need is a good tank and prophet and with time you can easily take it down , they aren't hard to kill but they are long to kill I can give you that , but why are ya killing World bosses for gems ? Legendary chests for gold to buy what?More gems , armor? What for you barely need it since you going against something simple as PvE mobs.PvP gives you the reason to buy gems, gives you the reason to buy better armor, gives you a reason to get those rare enchantments, gives you a reason to get gold to buy what you need because other people are going to have better gear and you need to prepare your self for that match up, and winning pvp matches, that feel you get when you are stronger than most of the players online is what thrives us to play more. The Valor set is going to be a trophy for you , its going to give you brag rights and you will stand out , that is why we play games like these to reach goals that very few people achieved.

Tell me something if you got maxed out stats on every profession are you going to stick around or take a break and wait till a new profession is made.I mean you already proved to everyone that you are the best at that profession because you got to that NUMBER you see and no one can get past that number because HCS needs to update it so you might as well hibernate, but you see that NUMBER does not apply with PvP there is always going to be someone better than you , more skill full, and much better over all which thrives us to keep playing , to keep trying to make it to the top of the leader board and STAY THERE that I can guarantee  that you will not be able to do  if you take breaks , you can get away with that in PvE but in PvP if you want to be the best you got to earn it and keep going forward. That's why PvP is so good for this game because it gives the PLAYERS a reason to stay ,a reason to keep on playing.

If there is a high demand of PvP players demanding gems and special weapon effects to use in PvP ,LOOK at that a Economy is being improved , it benefits BOTH  PvE players and PvP because now PvE players have the job on getting the most op weapons and gems in the game and sell it to PvP players and PvP players thriving to be the top killer. We are all happy.

Sorry for the long post-To many things I had to get on one post.

In order for pvp to be any where near it needs to be, they need to really consider looking at the game from top to bottom before they want to implement those changes. It would really alter the entire feel of this universe. I think they should just stick with being pve. The story line is reaaaaaaaally cool i think and i love how immersive the quests are. The sad thing is that i have to go grind out for literally ten hours to gain a level to maybe have a chance at seeing what's unlocked for me from a quest standpoint. that i do not really like, I'd come back if the grind wasn't so bad or there was some incentive for me to grind for hours on end, But they'd need to make it more viable with group grinding.

I haven't attempted PvP in this game at all yet, so I can only talk about it generally, but I have mixed feelings about PvP from previous experiences.  It is probably the most engaging and interesting thing you can do in an MMO.  I absolutely agree with previous posts that said PvP is a great way for players to entertain themselves without the developers constantly having to lay down content, and fighting other people is a great motivator for continuing to find better weapons/gear/tactics, especially when players are rewarded a little bit even when they lose.

I do enjoy the competitive spirit of pitting yourself against other human beings and seeing what happens.  However, I hate most PvP communities.  I'm not a fan of trash talk and all the e-peen waving that comes with attracting lots and lots of PvP-focused players.  The most fun I've had with PvP is when you convince people who aren't hardcore about to it try it out and not beat them straight into the ground for doing so.  Being able to jump into PvP queues when you're a newbie and fight other newbies has almost always been a blast for me.  I really like being able to figure out the PvP system with others that are also figuring it out.  Having to wait until I'm max level to even start feeling like I have a chance to win makes me not even want to get into PvP at all.  Knowing that when I finally get to level 40, I'm going into my first few PvP matches against people who have 100's of hours of PvP experience under their belt is daunting, to say the least.

So I guess what I'm saying is, even though I'm not a huge PvPer, this game shouldn't neglect PvP, but it shouldn't tote it as the main feature, either.  I think it's possible to draw multiple types of players into a PvP system.  I think the best PvP rewards should be given out to the most hardcore/competitive players, but more casual PvPers should have the option to get some rewards as well.  This way you wouldn't drive away the players you already have, but you can start to attract more PvP-focused players, too.  Honestly, I'm not really sure how to go about implementing this, I'm not a game designer, but for example, if you randomly queue people into PvP, it would be nice to pit people against each other who have similar win/loss ratios (or calculate other ways to gauge their PvP skill).

I don't think its that hard to design a PvP system, all the resources are already there. A cookie-cutter PvP system using ELO rating system would already be a massive step up from the current situation and I don't think it is all that hard to implement. From there they can branch out to premade 3v3, 2v2, 5v5 teams that will hold people attention for a long time. Or they can implement something unique to PvP that other games may not have.
