As all you folks continue arguing, I'll follow the OP and the replies from the Devs, which is the main point of this thread:
Guilds.
As stated in a previous comment (i'm lazy, wont quote, its around page... 2. i think.) new people enter every day while old people leave everyday, making the raw positive of this very little. I believe hugely that guilds help solve this problem in a very simple way: you make the good samaritan actualy do something!
Let's look at it this way:
You're a nice enough person (even if you're Mongo xD), and you reach endgame. You have all your gear, you could use one or two extra gems to finish entirely, but that's not what you're after for excitement. You're bored of professions. What else you have to do? Fishing in the fountain? Grind for more gold that you won't ever need?
New players come:
"Hey everybody, im new, i need help, i need, i need, i need". Like all of us that have some experience of MMO's, this happens frequently, and who's there to support newbies? Oldies of course.
Besides keeping a healthy friend base (guild) that help eachother and EVENTUALY have guild pvp events or whatnot (world bosses also, dungeoning, hard quests), this keeps interest on logging in every day, even if it's just to say "Hi everyone, anyone need anything? Oh, hi there new face!"
Guilds keep people, because they create friend groups.
This is a good point. I do hope guilds are implemented sooner rather than later. I think it'll help with the grouping-up issues people are having. Guilds are something pretty much any type of player can enjoy, PvP, PvE, whatever. Unless you're a hardcore solo kind of gamer, but then the lack of guilds isn't really bothering you either. ![]()
Honestly, MMOs really aren't all that different from each other; they all have the same core gameplay. What latches a person into one for the long term and keeps them engaged will be the people they meet.

They're boxed in trying to get their downloadable client ready. I think that they stated Guilds and AH come after that. However, I fear that by the time the downloadable client is ready and they hit Steam the population is already going to have sunk low enough that it ends up unrecoverable. I'm sorry, but you had 8 years. The fact that the pressure is on now with the drop in population should have been a reminder that releasing an MMO with so many unfinished aspects after close to a decade in R&D was a bad choice. This coupled with minimal marketing. Yes, marketing costs money. I think you were trying to hit a very selective niche and then realized the niche you were going for won't pay the bills. Am I a game developer? No. Am I a company executive? No. But, I am a consumer. The game market is fickle as is the players. Players want features and content, and they want it quickly or they move on to the literally hundreds of thousands of other games out there. Uniqueness only carries you but so far. I've sunk money and time into your game. Does that make me special? No. But it does pay the bills as does the money many other players have spent. This game wasn't developed for farts and giggles. I assume you want to turn a profit on it. I realize you are probably working your butts off trying to do what you can to put this project at the top. As a consumer, I know it sounds jerky to say but you need to do it faster if you want people to continue to sink time and (more importantly) money into your game, because lets face it... if nobody is buying EP/support, then what do you have? A game with a bunch of free players and wondering how you're going to pay your staff. You have other games, and it looks like you've done well with them. Part of me feels like you may have bitten off more than you can chew. I feel like perhaps such a small company is struggling to keep up with such a massive project such as Eldevin in order to churn out features, content, and play ability that MMO gamers demand. I say again, I like this game. If I didn't, I would not bother to play it anymore. I would never have come back, I would never have kept reading the forums and watching progress while I was away, and I would have never (very, very recently) spent on EP. Who am I? I am just one player. I don't matter as a singular entity. By myself I merely fade into the chasm of other players from different backgrounds and walks of life. But, there are plenty of others just like me. People that sink time, money, and energy into a product they thought they believed in and could stand behind. I wish my best in holding out hope as I continue to play that Eldevin does not sink into the hapless void of forgotten games. I also would like to end this reply on the positive note that I do think you guys work hard and are trying to continue to do so to make sure Eldevin doesn't sink into the abyss and (again) I do enjoy your game.

i gave up this game. Changes will not be made fast. New mmos are on the horizon. I suppose they release the client in summer-wich is exactly when new mmos will start their open betas.
I wish i could help them, but they do not listen to f2p players, just whales.

You are level 18...you haven't even given the game a chance, you are still at the point in the game before you even are required to do dungeons or grind or do near end game content. So if you have given up on this game without even giving it a chance then that's all on you, don't blame the devs and don't blame their dedication to their working.

Maybe you have forgotten but grind is horrible here. You see lvl 18- i see ALOT of hours spend to come that far. Maybe you got there faster when a) exploiting high lvl mobs
more ppl played at the same time. Now you need twice as long- nnone is doing dungeons as example.

The grind isn't why people aren't playing many have multiple lvl 40+ characters.
I didn't think getting 1 character to 40 was that hard, quests was the main source of exp and if I had to grind it was 1v1 until lvl 40 (I'm sure this is the case for alot of people).
You can't really accuse people of exploiting, leveling is a piece of cake and you can get lvl 40-45 in a day or two if you really want.
You might get stuck on things like Boondocks/Vault currently but if you make some friends this would be alot easier. They might not appreciate getting asked every minute but there's guilds who run their members through any instance that you desire.
I don't want Eldevin to be where you're basically breast fed exp.

If buff or wave to you in passing, it means hello!

I think this highlights the fact that a lot of the 'difficulty' in the game is just getting accustomed to how to play and where to go. Now that we know all the tricks it's super easy. The non-intuitive aspects are rough for new players because they don't realize things for awhile. An example of this is the quest book. New players probably miss lots of quests because the book is confusing.
Making the game more intuitive and user-friendly would go a long way towards keeping new players interested.

What really bugs me is the current trend is to make all solo play more and more difficult to hunt loot. Right now, you basically have to have a team of 5 if you want to make any money. I just don't get that. Solo play is completely legitimate in every MMO, it's only natural players get bored of running the same damn dungeon over and over.
I just noticed today that Crimson HQ mobs were changed so that they all shoot you with ranged attacks now. I spent over an hour at the lev 42 mummies and got 0 drops. Why do they hate solo players so much in this game? I'm f*****g sick of RG/BT. They are basically telling me to not even play the game right now.

just quit already- HQ is doing everything they can to force you to pay 2 play the game. Those steahlth patchs are a good reason to leave the game. As if the playerbase was high- it will never get high when bad words spread like this- they can release whatever they want. And they will!

Grrr, I have to weigh in on this. Not everyone, especially not Guthix, got to 45 by "exploiting high lvl mobs." He has reported more bugs in this game than anyone and is definitely not a cheat of any kind.
Also...I'm sick of everyone saying this game is "pay to win." I've spent hundreds of dollars. Please tell me what I've won. I'm still waiting for the ChelseaBrick, ultimate winner title. I've said this and I'll say it again...some of the best players in this game are non-subscribers. If you actually attempted to make friends in this game maybe you'd meet a few of them and be inspired.

so question to the staff... does it make ANY since to continualy add new content when so much thats been in game is unifinnished or broken?
all the new 40-45 content are nice but they do LITTLE more than temporarily pacify the masses....
Ok, sorry - I did miss that you'd asked us this question and didn't intend to ignore it. It's actually one we've answered a few times but hopefully I can make it clearer here: The team that works on content and the team that works on game mechanics are SEPARATE. We work on both at the same time. One does not take away from the other, so we can build new realms and quests and work on new game features (and fixing/balancing the old) at the same time.
There's also no other way to do this. Varkaz & L3fty couldn't help build an auction house or guild system, for example. If they weren't writing and creating new content they'd be sitting around twiddling their thumbs. And Cygnus and LT aren't taking time off from working on the client and hardware rendering to build new dungeons because they can't - that's not their skill set.
Yes, sometimes there is overlap - Anakiro both writes quests for new content AND goes back and fixes bugs that you guys report. I might do icon artwork or concept art for future content but I am also working hard on the user interface for the new game mechanics we're working on, and content for the website. But we always prioritise the things needed right now as opposed to stuff you might want a few months from now.
So we work on all these things in tandem. We're not taking time away from the things you have asked for to work on brand new content that you don't need yet. That's just not the way the game's development works (or most game development in general). It's just a case of different people with different skills working on their own jobs, and sometimes one team is finished earlier. In the case of the 40-45 content, a lot of that was completed before Eldevin's launch which is why it came out before other suggestions, which needed to be planned and built from near scratch.

Oh well is all i say, i'm already slowly giving up. Nothing for a Tank to do without dungeons and its so difficult to find a team to do ASV daily with how little people there are. It's also just as boring as original SV, but sooo much longer.

so the staff that works on content aren't the ones that would change/modify the unfinnished content in game? interesting thought the content department would handle the content in game and new being created....
i wasn't talking about bugs i was talking about fixing pvp, fixing ToC, fixing PvE Arena, Fixing trapper atoll... things like that... none of that has to be built from scratch. each and every one of these things have been in the game since closed beta and aside from a couple ToC tweaks they've been untouched threw out that time. we offered a LOT of suggestions then after we offered suggestions the staff came and said "what can we do to fix these" so we offered more and more suggestions then never got a single follow up reply...
