Soft balling PvP prestige

Something something something RS made note in their bio "please 10 stam me for PvP prestige and I'll do the same back".  Another "Insurance lizard" PMed a guildie and said, we should trade off 10 stam PvP hits for prestige.  I'm also getting rather ill watching some ladder participants, sitting there hitting once and gaining tokens for nada (even though there is nothing of value to invent).  This is making a mockery of PvP and the ladder.  I spend a tonne on forging, crafting and hours inventing great gear, only to have this nonsense pervade my senses.

 

A quick note: we need a much, much wider range of targets, rid 10-99 stam prestige, and make PvP much more inclusive, so make those who attempt to shortcut and "pose", wide open to whack-a-moling.

yeah I believe extending ranges in definitely in order given the population in game - especially beyond the 500 level range.  I'd love to see +/- 10 per 100 levels past 500, and at  around lvl 1200 would like to see that +/- 10 increased to +/- 20 per 100 levels.  Ladder squatters are doing it for dom ticks to make that medal all the more pathetic, and the real motivation is anticipation of new ladder gear getting released - which will have very short lived earnings potential given the amount of PvP tokens in circulation currently.  The safety first people regarding prestige likely get the +10% bonus for hunting once every six months or so - and in that time probably get slammed back or posted; and thwacked enough to negate the benefits, thus doesn't bother me, or seem as much like a mockery to system as the ladder squatters, many of whom make agreements to do little to no hitting / trading tick gain position.

Don't get me started  :o   A lot of sliminess all over!  I look at the Ladder periodically thinking oh maybe I'll do it now and then once again just see it littered with squatters who cry foul if you want to actually PLAY.  I rather not play at all than be bothered with that mentality.

Agree with you with you guys ladder levels can expand, but useless to do unless changes actually do take place.  Under the current system it will remain broken and a sham, as nothing to kick people into actually PLAYING the ladder.

one of the changes was ladder hits would not be bounty-able

 

so that the ladder would be more a field of honor...

 

imagine 2 knights in a jousting tourney - one knight knocks the other off his horse, wins the joust - the losing knight then puts a bounty on the winner - doesn't seem very honorable to me

     I think PvP was, and I stress the "was", a good idea.....once.  The problem started occurring when some people found out how to manipulate it.  I have a top 50 list of the "old" PvP ladder from a few years ago (I even made 50 on it!)  Now looking at it, you're lucky to have even 5 participants, and it's always the same people.

    Now, since I don't participate, 'cause at this time it's like participating in a game of Russian Roulette, I don't know how to fix it.  However it's done, it must mesh with the arena in some fashion, as both are based on PvP.

     From my limited viewpoint, part of the problem is the rewards system, which as Deadparrot commented, have become dated, and have flooded the market.

     My gut feeling is that PvP (and other game aspects) have gotten "dumbed down"  There is very little work involved in any of the early parts of the game, all of which is (I think) supposed to gather in new players.  A comparison would be starting out playing Monopoly with unlimited cash.

     Saying all that, I like BraveKaths comment on jousting..  Is it/would it be possible of possible to incorporate some of the classic Arthuresque forms of combat into the ladder?  (anything else is just stab 'em in the back while they're sleeping)  And for Gawds sake, get rid of bonting from ladder hits :angry:   It's like running to the teacher because you lost playing dodge ball! 

    So that, I guess, is my suggestion, get a bit of chivalry into PvP.  I don't know if I'd ever be fond of it outside the arena, but I would be much more likely to try it in some other incarnation than it is now.

If this is regarding the OP (me), what a trolling comment.  Some people also like to improve an area of the game that desperately need it, and tries to induce suggestions via comment.  Now, if I were to get going on the Deflect buff, well, that would be complaining....or my wife's cooking....

 What - the thread disappeared.  I really hope it's just hard to find.  As the removal of Bounty's need to happen.  I know some disagree, but I've talked with many of them and just do not see their logic.   Going to go looking on the Roadmap and see what that says.  Hope you're wrong and it's not been cut from the to-do list.

Can't take credit for the jousting - that was duktayp.  

So true -- "Teacher, teacher ..." ... back when you learned how to take your hits and not cry foul, but learned how to throw harder and aim better.

Re: Removal of Bounty'ing Ladder hits ... it's still on the Development Roadmap, but they did add this new Guild Chat that WASN'T on the roadmap.

"Change PvP Ladder hits to not be bountyable (17th May 2014)"

I would love to see some small tweaks(updates) to how Prestige works:

 

1) I would like to be able to break it down into segments. The current all or none is terrible. I earned it. Just because I don't have a 100,000+ stam bank to burn 6 hrs worth of prestige doesn't mean I should be penalized.

 

1.5) And let's increase the % increase to 15-20%, all at the user's discretion like Nightmare Visage and Barricade. This will only entice more to PvP.

 

2) I want to trade it like any buff. Again, I earned it. Why can't I disperse it to whomever I want?

 

3) The 3 day cool down should be omitted from the ladder. Every hit should gain 10 Prestige on the Ladder only. This would spice up the Ladder in one easy tweak!

One last thing, why does this road map seem like we're taking a horse and wagon, and we're missing a wheel? I see so little done so seldom it'll take 10 years to finish just what is listed on the current road map. What's taking so long? Has this game been shelved finally for Hoof's time? What's up?

I couldn't agree more to this entire post. Easy adds I imagine to PVp and the ladder. Now add some new invent able stuff and bingo Bango. Lou, seems this new Hell thingy in development, yes I'm sure Hoof's time on FS is now limited. But THIS game is their base, with some ads it could raise its profile. More is not always better. We need someone on the roadmap from a programming perspective, I'll tell you that.

Now you're talking about how HCS has always needed more then Hoof programming. That is an entirely new thread, and one we as consumers (and maybe employees) aren't privy to the details.

 

One thing is certain; I believe the game growth has been neglected for either a newer game like Eldevin (which I won't play because HCS has to EARN my player-ship after the SS2 fiasco) or something entirely else such as another game in production.

 

And how we would we know? The forums are neglected too, at least compared to the old days...

It's getting quite annoying for myself with the amount of 10 stam hits I recieve and even more foul bios wanting to trade prestige hits.

I have fortunatly angered or persuaded them to in the future to slide the bar up to 100, which I do much prefer.

 

I have gained 60,000+ PvP Prestige, no lie!

Through PvP(100 Stams), Bounty Hunting, PvP Ladder.

I've done the lot and not used PvP Prestige since level 40 or so if I recall correctly, dating back a long while ago.

 

 

PvP Prestige, like Smasher hits on the BB, should be required to be 100 Stamina I reckon, otherwise no prestige is gained.
