So I just started to play and it is completely unplayable. The framerate is like 10fps and I am unable to do anything. My computer is only a year old and I know my system can handle this game. I turned off the frame rate limit setting but nothing seems to stop it from this slide show. From all the forum posts, it looks like everyone is able to play but I don't seem to be doing something.

Help?

Heh, my first post on this site and it's a troubleshooting message. Having been in tech support for years, I'd have to ask what OS you have, what browser you're using, what/if any anti-virus is installed and if you are running a firewall.

My first step when something like this happens with a browser-based game is to try a different browser (Played Travian and Tribal Wars for a few years and dealt with a lot of issues with browsers).

Forget about your silly whim, it doesn't fit the plan!

I'm running Windows 7, 64bit and running Firefox (newest version). I have ESET NOD32 Antivirus. I don't have any firewall except my router. The game runs like a slide show which really surprises me. My system is a i7 3770 CPU running at 3.50 GHz and my graphics card (which I know it doesn't use) is a GTX 780ti. I have 16GB of RAM. I've been playing ElderScrolls online beautifully as well as WildStar and other online games.

Is there a browser that is recommended? Java is installed (latest version). Just frustrated because I like these types of games but hate when there is obviously something screwing it up. ugh.

weird.  I have a pc that's 5yrs old, I still am using vista (insert giggles here e.e), I use firefox mostly but have chrome and it works in that.   java is installed to latest version. only change in my pc is the graphic card which I updated couple years back to gforce 9800 GT. I use antivirus and firewall programs.

but I'm so not a techi.

good luck, hope you can fix that and welcome to eldevin.  I'm  a newbie too, started at the beginning of april. welcome to eldevin, hope you can play :).

Slow but steady wins the race or something like that.

I'm just taking it slow, not sure about the steady.

Still running Vista on my 5+ year old pc. Use chrome. PC overheats frequently, usually when doing a dungeon with a group. But other than that, no issue. Haven't tried any other browser. So it is possible to run with less than optimal hardware. Hoping to get newer PC soon.

The server seem  to be responding very poorly today.

If it is a one day ony thing its not an issue the game will move to a client in the near future which will put less a strain on your processing power (not that it should be an issue with your setup) .

Mozilla (Firefox) should be fine I dont use crome for obvious reasons ( it is completely unsafe security wise)

If you run firefox addons like Adblock plus disable them on the games sites as they act a bit like antivirus progs and there is no adware on this site or popups.

Adblock has a disable on various sites option as most addons for Mozilla have.

Browser games run differently from the ones you mentioned they are client based.

In the case of ESO it also had about  $150million dollars wasted on it my opinion fortunate enough to bodyswerve it after playing all the closed and open Betas

Best check out this link though it has good install advice

I play a lot of browser mmo's and some play well in Firefox and others I have to use Chrome for best results. Try downloading a browser that you don't currently have installed and use it soley for Eldevin.

Also, browsers that you use on a regular basis can become bogged down with data/addons/registry errors/large cache/corrupted files etc etc..
