I was 100 stammed the other day. That's not the problem. The problem is when I went to hit back as is my preference, I found my attacker under PvP protection for two days! A reasonable fix would be an inability to purchase protection while a potential to be bountied exists. In effect 48 hour after the last unbountied attack.

What a genius! Never thought of doing that to get out of a bounty.

An exploitable loophole in the game ? - who would have thought ? ;)

Homer : Marge, don't discourage the boy. Weaseling out of things is important to learn. It's what separates us from the animals .. except the weasel.

Eddie Izzard : The National Rifle Association say that guns don't kill people, people do. But I think the gun helps, you know ? I think it helps. I think just standing there going "BANG" - that's not going to kill too many people, is it ?

I don't mean to sound pessimistic, but it seems that everything I eat lately turns to poo ...

From the mouseover of the PvP Protection item on the purchase page:

This upgrade protects your character from losing XP in standard PvP attacks. Note that you can still be attacked if you are bountied or part of a Guild Conflict. Note that if you initiate an attack against any player, you will lose any remaining PvP Protection. If you use PvP Protection, you will be excluded from the PvP Ladder until it next resets. Note also you will not be allocated a PvP Band if you have PvP Protection activated when the PvP Ladder resets.

So there's still the problem that the player who was hit can't hit back, but they can bounty.

I would just keep hitting for the gold. It can still be stolen...  Of course, a HEAVY bounty may make you feel better :)

Absolutely.

PvP protection was the worst thing that was never supposed to happen.

BillyBob - this bites and slimey behavior is reprehensible.  Sorry this happened, but good to point out the flaw, as that's the only way to correct it.  I only posted a couple bounties in my time here, as I'm like you and I hit back myself.  The advice you've received here is sound under the current system and hope a thorough attitude adjustment is enacted on the player.

Hopefully one of these days HCS will sit down as they have promised and I believe intend to do and takes a serious look at PvP, then I hope this flaw will be examined.  I doubt they'll remove PvP Protection as there'd be a panic, but I wonder if there's a way for them to program a lock on the option to choose PvP Protection for a 48 hour period after we hit someone in straight PvP or BH hit, obviously not GvG?  This would effectively not allow this particular unsportsmanlike behavior.

*shakes head* Another day and we learn yet another cheat going on in the game - a bit depressing.  Are we FallenSword or FallenEthics?
