Bounty board idea for new pvp/xp system

ok..here goes nothing..reading thru many pages of the possible new pvp/xp system..seems to be a recurring issue.- if xp loss is removed, how that would affect the bounty board in a bad way...no xp loss...no incentive for bountying..and even with new system....still may not cause a great incentive to bounty..

 

so, make it so that the game controls the bounty...- keep in mind my numbers are just examples to get across the idea

 

for example.- after "x" amount of stamina is used doing non-bounty board pvp hits.(500, 1000 or more not sure what would be best, but has to be a random amount)...also can be used for "x" amount of gold stolen (again, a random amount)....it triggers the game to put a bounty on that player...

 

the reward would be calculated by amount of gold that gets sunk during a pvp hit - ex. player xxx get hits..loses 100k in gold of which player xxx stole 40k...60k would get sunk...take 10% of that - 6k and that gets added to that players bounty pool, for when that player does enough pvp hits (stamina from above example),  to trigger the game placing a bounty on them...that would create decent sized rewards for bounty hunters

 

there would be no counter bounty since the game is placing the bounty...

 

hcs could use same bounty system we have to determine how much pvp/xp could get lost during a bounty..and hcs can figure out how many much total pvp/xp couold be taken on the bb

 

this idea should keep the bounty board very busy...as i would expect with the new system, many more players would try pvp...more players ending up on the bb. and more bounty hunters..

 

maybe even a new medal for getting put on the bounty board "x" amount of times...

 

since many pvpers want to get on the bb, this would take it out of other players hands to place bounties....and not punish them twice with gold...just pvp a lot and you can get put on the bb...

 

feel free to rip my idea apart or add to my idea...just trying to find a solution to a possible issue..not even sure how hard or easy this idea would be to code..maybe zorg can tell us..

Would certainly remove some of the BB manipulation huh.

had to make small change...to non-bounty board pvp hits...bb hits would not count towards triggering a bounty..

There is another issue though yoda. What do you do about people who wish to get retribution for losing a lot of gold due to a pvp attack? They would have essentially lost their ability to bounty?

I'm not sure you're understanding the idea fully Penny.

This idea would actually put up a LOT more bounties than you currently have to play with, basically everyone that pvp's will end up on there from time to time...

As long as there were enough bounties posted, and posted at random to keep the bounty board fair for all hunters, this is an idea I could get behind. It also makes more sense, when it comes to taking the power out of players hands and ending certain bullying tactics.

 

+100 for a suggestion to revive the bounty board!

???  i guess you have no idea what i suggested..nowhere in my post does it say anything about taking bounty hunting away ?..completly the opposite..would bring the bounty board back and i would be quite sure that many more players would take a try at bounty hunting..

Will it seriously make a difference if the biunty is posted by game or players ? BB means XP loosing lots of it and it should be posted by players and players only

good question....i am sure there is an answer to that..community should be able to come up with something..maybe still allow a person to bounty a player if they choose to and put up their own reward..but still have it to where after "x" amount of pvp stam used that person gets automatically put on bb..

again...nowhere do i say anything about taking bounty hunting away..??? and yes i do mention that there should be pvp xp loss on the bb..read this part again

If the game lists the hitter how do you setup players to smite him when listed?

 

If i am PvPing all I need is an allie watching the BB to soft kill me when i reach the auto-list thrush hold? And if you want to be really evil, I would be able to counter bounty this player for an auto-list and my allies can then pound him.  Auto bounty would kick in and list my allies that hit said players and we would all soft kill each other or not and auto bounty would list said player for each counter bounty?  I see no end to what I could do to an offline players PvP level.

 

Am I misunderstanding the counter bounty with an auto-list?

The concept is ok, but better to randomly have a bounty occur as with this idea you can plan out when it occurs.

Bring in the infamous 2% where every hit has a 2% chance of getting an automatic bounty. If 1 does not happen the player still has the option to place 1 ofcourse.

Yeah, it really needs to be random.

 

I quite like the idea of the 'auto-generated' bounties working a little different too. With the system placing you up for a set amount of hits, win or lose. As long as it was random of course to limit collusion.

i think, in a reply to mister doom earlier in this thread...i acknowledged that players should be able to also place bounties themselves..since some would like to bounty for gold hits..i have np with that..my only reasoning why i did not mention this in first post.. is that i disliked being somewhat bullied into placing a bounty on someone..many times i would receive a message from attacker...telling me to place bounty on them or else suffer another hit in the next hour..so i figured, that if bounty was taken out of players hand..this would not occur..

no..your thoughts are legit..that is why i like the idea brought up by others in this thread, to have the auto-bounty threshold be a random number of stamina..that could solve that issue..thx for question..
