Damage Reduction, works? and if yes how?

Templar

 

using Frozen Phalanx on Last Stand, Righteous Defence with look in the Mirror active, feated Conviction, Defensive stance and Inspiration Aura. 

 

Enemy affected by Blind and Inflicting Cry

 

Backup Healer using Redempted Sanctuary and Expunged Cauterize

 

Enemy hits and hit is blocked by Stalwart Shield

 

Armor gives 45% defence

 

We have:

 

Armor 45% Defence

Shield Blocks 75% damage

 

all other skills gives about 190% reduction

 

Overall is ... 300%

 

I ask

 

Enemy hits by 1000 damage

 

How much damage will be reduced in my case?

 

anybody have any idea?

Reduction isn't additive, but multiplicative.

If you have Frozen Phalanx and Righteous Defense, it's not 50% + 25% = 75% reduction, but 100% - (100% - 50%) * (100% - 25%) = 62.5% reduction. The more reduction skills you stack, the less effect each individual skill has.

Let's say you have 0 armor with Frozen Phalanx (50%) active, and you receive a regular unblocked hit which normally deals 1000 damage. You would get 1000 * 50% = 500 damage. If you also had Righteous Defense for another 25%, that would be 500 * 75% = 375, since 125 damage would be 25% of the remaining damage.

If you want to know how much damage you receive after all those skills, do the math yourself :)

The only thing you need to know are wich reduction comes first.

 

And by my exp i see that first comes the biggest ones but sometimes it does not seem so, due to bugs or bad calcs sometimes with the same reductions against the same enemy damage tends to change against the same auto attack from the same exact enemy, this is EXTREMELLY RARE.

 

Still make your calculation starting with the biggest reduction and go down after that.

 

Otherwise with this game reductions you would be invincible at level 28...

 

Blind is awesome but you need to make a separate calculation as it does not increase you reduction but it reduces actual initial damage still (Inicial Reduction + (skill reductions) ) - (Damage-Blind)= actual damage.
