Hi,

I"m sure arriving to the world of Eld is new and exciting and a bit confusing at first but we all been there too so thought I'd throw out a couple of suggestions for new players. ;)

we were a small community compared to other mmo's you may have played before and for the most part you will find that the players that have been here for some time are usually helpful ( if not busy with something, if not perhaps not viewing world chat at all times etc. remember we still may be doing our own things at times so be patient when asking for help and/or questions) and friendly. :)

If you have questions remember that we have just had steam launch recently so the population has increased by the hundreds and compared to the player population that was currently playing at any given time this is a mass increase so we know that many of you will have a ton of questions and all.

I joined last april and when I first came I already decided I would take my time with the game.

So at first I"m kind of shy about talking to others   so I basically just figured out some things for myself and then ventured to asking a question here and there in world chat.  I haven't been a huge forum poster or reader in other games but here I do read them and post ( even if it's just something silly to share) and find forums can be helpful for some things if you use them.

Everyone has a different play style so keep this in mind.  ;)

If you have questions best thing is to first try world chat.  B)

yes, it's a lot more busy now so if you find you haven't gotten a reply right off be patient.

Don't spam the chat but wait a little, try again if you haven't gotten a reply.  I"m sure someone will see it and if they can help answer you they will.

also /w or clicking on someone's name and choosing whisper you can pm (private message) them but remember if you don't know them be sure to be polite about it.

They may be busy, or may not be able to get back to you so please don't spam their whisper.

This will only make them want to put you on their ignore list if they find your spamming them so don't be offended or feel your being ignored if they haven't replied back right off or not at all.

Please don't send them a group invite without asking them if your just asking for help with a question or something else.  If you want to invite them to group and your new to game and inviting some player you see that is many levels higher so they are probably a player been around a while ask them first before you do this.

As much as we would like to help you, we may not have time to group with you just so you can ask us something and for the most part if your looking for others to quest with  you have many new players who will be close to your level to ask to group with for quests.  something I didn't have when I joined and it's a great way to make new friends here and get to know the game together. :D

Especially at lower levels most find it a lot easier to just solo as this game.

basically this game allows us to do most quests solo for the most part at just about any level though later you may find some do need others to help or help each other with them because the mobs get more difficult or the map they are on is a lil crazy.

When you try to invite a higher player to group with you and you don't ask and they select 'no thanks' I"m sure some will pm you or ask you in world chat what is it you need however please do not just spam them with invites after you see they have opted to click 'no thanks' when you first invited them.

That is why I suggest you just ask in world chat.

I had this happen to me already a few times and I am still polite about it but it can be somewhat annoying if I'm in an area I can't reply and they are left thinking I"m rude for not accepting the invite or something, soo this is why I suggest players not to do this so we all don't have the wrong first impressions of our fellow players lol.

What first 2 quests I suggest you do once you enter Eldevin City:

If you are just starting out you will notice you can't enter Eldevin City until you have finished some quests outside the city.

Once you are able to enter my advice is to head to the bank and pick up the quest for that.

this is how you get your bank storage and vault space.

you must complete those quests in order to access it.

The vault  ( in bank not the dungeon of the same name) is where you can deposit silver and gold if you like and other items that you can then transfer to any characters you have on your account.  So its a good idea to get that done.

Next I would take the Tour guide quests.

sorry I don't remember the names but it will be obvious which that is.

I would do that one as well because this is how you get to know EC area as well as it will give you the homestone you can use that will transport you to any town you attune it too.

However at first you only can attune to EC but as you lvl and go to more towns/areas you will find an npc where if you wish you can attune that homestone to that place.

the homestone only allows you to teleport to that one place you attune it but you can change it as you wish.

You'll catch on to where you want to attune it as you level.

of course you have the Dragon trainer which you will open up more and more areas for that as you go.

well that's all for now, maybe I think of some more and others will post too.

so play nice, be polite, respect others, dont' spam chats, be patient, take the time to explore the game and maps, and have fun!! :P

this is sort of my first post like this so hope it's ok

Oh I do have one more thing to add atm.   HC staff is really working hard to help the new players and I really hope that new players realize that this is not a game with some huge staff so be patient with them as well.  I have seen them respond in game and in forum here, ( I am not currently on steam to read what any forum is like there but sure they monitor that too).

Irks me a little when already someone new comes to game and thinks it's ok to be rude to the devs/staff when they have just arrived and know that this is a new launch on steam so the staff may be a bit overwhelmed atm as well.

Questions, Inquiries, Suggestions and even Opinions is all well and good but do them without being rude about it.   Get to know how HC works here, as in they do have real lives as well and are not here 24/7.   You can find out their office hours and get an idea about response times for things.    anyway show the devs/ staff some love too cuz I"m sure they are just as excited to see new players as we are but let's all try to be patient and help things run smoothly as much as we can.

I am sure they are working on all the issues and future requests for improvements to come or at least doing what they can.

Let's make Eldevin not only a fun game but one with a good community of players that want to chill out with others and have some fun in an mmo and leave the drama behind ( ok that may be a stretch , a game w/o drama ?  lol but maybe we can try for a game with much less drama then others ;) ). haha
