My character would just walk very slowly, and my speed on my mount occasionally moves to the speed of me walking.I know I'm not alone as well.

I know the devs are aware of the lag, and are probably looking into it, but....

they REALY need to make this a priority, it will make many of the new steam players dislike the game and they wont come back. It is also now making the stalwart vets lose interest.

please, please, please fix asap

We're going to be working hard next week to work out improvements we can make to reduce the effects of the lag on the game due to the massive increase in the game population with the launch on Steam.

In the meantime, please try switching to one of the other servers to see if that helps at all :)

its generally caused by holding down the WSAD keys.. you wont lag if you mouse click instead

true this helps but honestly clicking all the time can be really cumbersome.  also  you can accidentally hit a mob or something and if on a mount you end up dismounting or either way just haven't to now attack it.   it's a temporary solution at best.

I tend to move around using W and Mouse mostly.  W to move, mouse for direction.

Slow but steady wins the race or something like that.

I'm just taking it slow, not sure about the steady.
